This is in good nick. Some comments:

  • This is going to need an extensive hatnote due to the complex titling of this unit and the fact there were Union regiments with both of the ordinals as well as the 9th Missouri Infantry Regiment. The latter also needs a hatnote which I missed when I reviewed it at GAN. If you need a hand with this, I am happy to make suggestions.
I got the hatnote for the 12th Union done. I've created 9th Missouri Infantry Regiment (disambiguation) but I'm not sure how best to hat this on this regiment
  • I suggest you spread the alt names (assuming they are all significant alternatives used in multiple reliable sources and not just in one source) out, and mention and bold them at the point in the lead when it changed names. McGhee seems to do this (although Google Books preview doesn't let me see the second and subsequent pages), so I will make suggestions re the lead once you've done that. Because this impacts on the rest of the article as well, I'll just pause this while you sort it out.
Done. Simplified one name, removed the least prominent, and spread out in the lead

OK, some more points:

  • suggest using the following hatnote: {{For2|the Union regiment|12th Missouri Infantry Regiment (Union)|other units known as the 9th Missouri Infantry Regiment|9th Missouri Infantry Regiment (disambiguation)}}
    • Done
  • drop (Confederate) in the first sentence, dabs aren't used there
    • Done
  • suggest "After mustering into Confederate service as Ponder's Missouri Infantry on October 22, 1862, the regiment fought..."if this is right, perhaps it was mustered as White's Missouri Infantry Regiment?
    • Done, except as reflecting it was originally White's Missouri Infantry
  • create a redirect for Ponder's Missouri Infantry pointing to this article
    • Done
  • "when it was renamed to the 12th Missouri Infantry Regiment"
    • Done
  • no idea of what its maximum strength was? Putting the depleted numbers in the infobox isn't terribly useful, better off using regiment with link to Regiment#United States Army under Size
    • Done. McGhee doesn't give it, and I have no idea where to even begin looking for it in the Official Records
  • instead of Country in the infobox, suggest using Allegiance for all Confederate units, as it avoids the controversial status of the Confederacy as an internationally unrecognised country
    • Done
  • with all these ACW units, I suggest adding a brief Background section which explains the start of the war and its causes, secession status of the state in question and f a state fought on both sides, how that was divided. Currently there is no context.
    • Done. This one's different than the Slayback one, as I don't have to cover as much prequel.
  • insert the initial name into "<unit name> was first organized in late August 1862 from veterans of the Missouri State Guard." White's Missouri Infantry Regiment?
    • Went with White's Missouri Infantry, as regiment seems to have been left off
  • although Steen was later replaced by Brigadier General Mosby M. Parsons as brigade commander
    • Done
  • "Ponder's Rregiment" other examples exist, ie Steen's Rregiment
    • I caught and fixed five of these, I hope that's all of them
  • "33rd Iowa and 12th Kansas Infantry Regiments."
    • Done
  • Can you add a sentence about the capture/surrender of the 10th Missouri and the end of the war at the end of the article just to provide closure regarding the fate of any remaining men of this unit?
    • I've added one about the surrender of the 10th. I've also added one stating when Smith surrendered the Trans-Mississippi, for comparison
  • File:MMParsons.jpg needs publication info to use PD-US. Has it appeared in any old books published prior to 1925?
    • No idea. I've replaced it with an image from Commons that's actually under a Flickr license, of all things.

Placing on hold for the above to be addressed. Peacemaker67 (click to talk to me) 03:24, 10 July 2020 (UTC)[reply]

  • I suggest all units have "Regiment" included when they are first introduced, drop the "Regiment" thereafter. Without this, we have no idea what size units like Hunter's Missouri Infantry are. It just isn't helpful to the reader to do it, despite the fact that they are referred to in this way in many ACW books. Peacemaker67 (click to talk to me) 03:20, 13 July 2020 (UTC)[reply]
  • This article is well-written, verifiable using reliable sources, covers the subject well, is neutral and stable, contains no plagiarism, and is illustrated by acceptably licensed images with appropriate captions. Passing. Peacemaker67 (click to talk to me) 09:14, 14 July 2020 (UTC)[reply]
