Cuts[edit]

I removed the 1859 bustle image and also this link since the image may be from the 1870s but has nothing to do with "fashion" (though it has to do with clothes):

I have added more men's images. Will write some text soon. - PKM 18:27, 25 June 2006 (UTC)[reply]

upper-class[edit]

The fashion of this era was a upper-class fashion. The common fashion was more local and varied. -- Haabet

Haabet, go to Talk:History of Western fashion and look at the discussions of "Tracht". This article is not the best place to address the issue. Churchh 14:06, 19 September 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Pelisse in 1870s?[edit]

I'm skeptical about this. The pelisse was a long, fitted coat/dress which would not have fitted comfortably over a bustle, even with back vents and other features. Although the reference is cited to "Fashion in history: western dress, prehistoric to present" by Marybelle S. Bigelow, I've poked around Google, trying every trick I can think of to see page 271, and I'm not sure that she can have meant to say pelisses WERE worn in the 1870s - that's a new one on me, I don't think I've ever seen any other dress history book claim this and I've been reading them for 25 years... So yes, I'm really not sure about the accuracy of this statement. Mabalu (talk) 17:52, 14 February 2014 (UTC)[reply]
