A Colonial Project[edit]

Why doesn't this page have a section about the link to British imperialism? The DCD's Adam Bowles writes, uncontroversially I think, that "in the colonial context its [the statistics movement] manifestation in the early Indian Censuses can not be divorced from Britain's colonisation of India. The gathering of statistical data inevitably requires a procedure of classification. With the early Indian Censuses the process of classifying social institutions and structures led to the creation of an authoritative representation of Indian society." — Preceding unsigned comment added by Exorable.ludos (talkcontribs) 14:47, 13 January 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Redirect[edit]

This article comprises almost entirely a word-for-word transcription of the 1875 Memorandum. As such, it is contrary to WP:NOFULLTEXT and I have redirected it. - Sitush (talk) 11:39, 13 September 2017 (UTC)[reply]
