Contradiction with article on the 1936 constitution[edit]

This article suggests that the role of the Communist Party was not made explicit until the 1977 Brezhnev constitution, but the article for the 1936 Stalin constitution seems to contradict this. From the 1936 constitution article: "The 1936 constitution specifically mentioned the role of the ruling All-Union Communist Party (b) for the first time. Article 126 stated that the Party was the "vanguard of the working people in their struggle to strengthen and develop the socialist system and representing the leading core of all organizations of the working people, both public and state". This provision was used to justify banning all other parties from functioning in the Soviet Union and legalizing the one-party state." It seems like one or the other of these two articles needs to be updated to resolve the contradiction. Or if there is some subtlety here and it is not, in fact, a contradiction, then that should be made clearer and more explicit. Salsmachev (talk) 22:25, 11 December 2022 (UTC)[reply]
