Did you traverse the article? The reasoning is supported in the section on the tropical cyclone's meteorological history. Additionally, NOAA officially designates the hurricane as a Category 3 impact in the United States, based on maximum sustained winds at the surface. The HURDAT file incorrectly cites the sustained value from Jupiter Inlet Light as a maximum sustained surface wind. CVW (Talk) 23:49, 8 November 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Newspaper articles call this Harry's Hurricane, Hurricane Bess, and the Air Force referred to this as Hurricane Baker in the October 1949 issue of Air Force: The Official Journal of the Air Force Association Magazine. Thegreatdr (talk) 01:24, 12 June 2017 (UTC)[reply]
