total of votes?[edit]

Mathematically, the total give me 148 898 votes, not 11 125. I imagine there's a typo somewhere, but these numbers don't even look close to each other?--Aréat (talk) 16:25, 20 December 2018 (UTC)[reply]

@Aréat: I suspect I might have entered the invalid/blank votes to the wrong line (the 433 could be for a minor party or independents) and that the figure in the Registered voters row is actually the total votes cast (with a double type - it should be 160,023 instead of 190,053). I will try and get the book from the British Library to check in the next day or two.
I wrote many of these articles on the computers in the British Library, which are pretty rubbish and often I didn't spot things like this (if I use my own computer, I usually double check the tables tally in Excel)... Number 57 16:49, 20 December 2018 (UTC)[reply]
I suspect the 433 is actually the number of invalid votes from the previous 1952 election. The total of valid votes is 148 465, which fit the percentage of votes you wrote for each parties, and a total of 160 023 would indeed make a 82.4 turnout, so that would leave us with 11 558 invalid votes. Anyways, please be assured that my comments aren't accusatory in the slightiest. Your addition to these page are greatly appreciated!--Aréat (talk) 17:12, 20 December 2018 (UTC)[reply]
@Aréat: Now corrected. Cheers, Number 57 12:55, 21 December 2018 (UTC)[reply]
