I have tried to expand the story considerably from its previous stub, and to cover the tactics and significance of this grand final, noting the interpretations of it on websites associated with the Melbourne and Collingwood clubs, but relying mainly on the pre- and post-analysis of the game in the Melbourne “Age”, and in Ben Collins’s book “The Red Fox: The Biography of Norm Smith”. This is a surprisingly detailed summation of the game. Honestly, it has more detail then some 21st-century grand finals. I've done some skimming as copyediting and flagged a source (Demon Wiki). I think it would be better to reword that quote so its unique while also referring to a more reliable primary or secondary source. If you can tighten up the editing, citations, and maybe add some inline photos (or even video) of prominent players of the game into the prose, this could potentially be considered for GA status. I have added information on where footage of the game is available. I intended to add: In September 2014 ABC TV aired a “Finals Flashback” (based on the Ampol footage of the 1958 grand final) which was presented by Alister Nicholson, but this is no longer available on the Australian Broadcasting Commission’s website. but decided to omit this after viewing the footage on the Wayback machine, and finding it was simply an abridged version of the Ampol color footage.
