Match dates for the FA Cup[edit]

"Some matches, however, might be rescheduled for the Sunday or other days if there were clashes with games for other competitions or the weather was inclement"

Not certain whether this sentence appears in all FA Cup seasons, but it is plainly wrong (at least until the early 70s). (1) No professional or senior amateur matches were played on a Sunday in England until about 1973. This was because of a law which prevented gate money from being collected on a Sunday (obviously, a serious consideration for professional and senior amateur clubs). If memory serves, Millwall were the first team to play a senior football match on a Sunday, a division 2 fixture. Others followed soon after, but the legal fiction was preserved by making purchase of a match programme (costing in these cases about the same as normal admission charges) mandatory in order to gain entrance, except for one turnstile (inevitably unmarked and the most difficult to have access to), where free admission was possible. The law was changed soon afterwards. (2) The FA Cup was considered to be the senior competition in England, and if any matches needed re-scheduling, it would be those in other competitions, not in the FA Cup.

Without complicating matters by mentioning Sundays, I suggest changing the sentence to:

"Some matches, however, might be rescheduled to take place on other days if the weather was inclement."
