  • "The 1966 Season was the 7th season for the San Diego Chargers as a professional AFL franchise..." Spell out AFL on the first instance and then put the abbreviation in brackets: "American Football League (AFL)".
  • "Flanker Lance Alworth..." Link to his position, or outright call him a wide receiver here.
  • "Alworth's 89-yard touchdown catch tied the next game at 7–7 but those were the only Chargers points; Oakland won the game with a touchdown in the final minute." Move the mention of the opponent to further up in the sentence. On first reading it wasn't clear that this was a second game, and I thought it was a continuation of the Dolphins game, with a typo.
  • "The Chargers next faced Kansas City in Anaheim ... the same stadium." Link the stadium here.
  • "San Diego, the winners of five division titles in the previous six seasons, were considered among the favorites..." Considered by who?
  • "Defensive tackle George Gross was unofficially..." has a note that refers to the NFL not keeping track of sacks. However this is about the AFL, and it should be made clear that the AFL also did not keep track of sacks (if that is the case).
  • "Tie games were not officially counted in the standings in the AFL." Citation?
  • I also made a few slight edits to clean up the grammar to help with reading comprehension.

Not a lot to work on here, and overall it reads well. Once the above are addressed I'll re-read, but it should be good. Kaiser matias (talk) 17:19, 30 December 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Kaiser matias I've gone through these now. I changed the citation on point 5, as I found a better one. For point 7, I can't find a source saying that the AFL disregarded ties throughout its history, but I did find one showing that it did so in the 1965 season, which was around the middle of its run (1960-1969). I've asked at the NFL subproject to see whether anyone knows a better source. Harper J. Cole (talk) 21:51, 31 December 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks for the update. Let me know if you get anything about the sourcing. Kaiser matias (talk) 17:41, 1 January 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Kaiser matias I've added a newspaper clipping showing the AFL standings in 1966. While they don't specifically mention the treatment of ties, one can see by looking at the winning percentage figures that ties aren't being included in the calculation. Taken with the source explicitly stating that they weren't counted in 1965, is that a strong enough citation? Harper J. Cole (talk) 21:01, 1 January 2024 (UTC)[reply]
I think that should be good. Thanks for putting the effort in here, the article is solid. Kaiser matias (talk) 00:03, 2 January 2024 (UTC)[reply]
