Move discussion in progress[edit]

There is a move discussion in progress on Talk:Snooker world rankings 2019/2020 which affects this page. Please participate on that page and not in this talk page section. Thank you. —RMCD bot 14:20, 15 January 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Requested move 11 June 2024[edit]

The following is a closed discussion of a requested move. Please do not modify it. Subsequent comments should be made in a new section on the talk page. Editors desiring to contest the closing decision should consider a move review after discussing it on the closer's talk page. No further edits should be made to this discussion.

The result of the move request was: moved. Given the lack of opposition in this requested move, and the result of the June 2022 RM for 2018–19 and on snooker rankings, I think there is a clear consensus for moving these articles. – Historical timeline of relevant discussions:

  • 2020, January – Move discussion which resulted in snooker season articles being moved from "Snooker season 1970/1971" format to "1970–71 snooker season" format
  • 2020, January – Move discussion proposing to move the rankings from "Snooker world rankings YYYY/YYYY" to "Snooker world rankings YYYY–YY". It failed due to a lack of consensus and confusion over the best target.
  • 2022, May – Snooker WikiProject discussion about ranking lists naming conventions
  • 2022, June – Move discussion which resulted in 4 pages being moved from "Snooker world rankings YYYY/YYYY" to "YYYY–YY snooker world rankings" based on WP:SILENT. Seems to have been confusion about whether to implement this across all pages since not all pages were tagged.

Sports seasons are almost always styled with an en-dash on Wikipedia and this would align the season and ranking articles, which really should have been following the same format for years since they're related to one another. Also for consistency with the most recent six ranking articles (see Category:Snooker world rankings). Hey man im josh (talk) 19:06, 11 June 2024 (UTC)[reply]

  • Support per nom. Seems a logical proposal given the previous discussions and decisions. Nigej (talk) 06:45, 12 June 2024 (UTC)[reply]
  • Support per above. Andygray110 (talk) 18:41, 13 June 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Yeah, cleanup mostly from the original non-discussion. Only makes sense for it to match the seasons articles. Lee Vilenski (talkcontribs) 21:07, 13 June 2024 (UTC)[reply]

@Nigej, @Andygray110, @Lee Vilenski, @Armbrust: I've changed the nomination to downcase to "snooker" at the target, which matches the season articles. My initial proposal included "Snooker" capitalized, which was not appropriate. Would you reaffirm your support, or state your opposition, since the proposed target has changed? I want to be transparent and for there to be no confusion for the closer. Hey man im josh (talk) 23:25, 13 June 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Support (and agree with downcasing). Andygray110 (talk) 23:33, 13 June 2024 (UTC)[reply]
