December 1979 Iranian constitutional referendum1979 Iranian constitutional referendum – This is a descriptive title where the use of the month is redundant and should be removed for concision as this was the only "Iranian constitutional referendum" that took place in 1979. The March 1979 Iranian Islamic Republic referendum also took place that year, but that was a 'referendum' on the 'Islamic Republic', as it suggests. • Support per nom. Could have just been done without an RM though. Number 57 13:56, 27 January 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Thought about it, but then again ... Iran, politics ... better safe than needless to and fro. Iskandar323 (talk) 14:21, 27 January 2023 (UTC)[reply]
  • Support Not any controversial move, could have been done without discussion. USaamo (t@lk) 15:13, 31 January 2023 (UTC)[reply]
  • Neutral but I will make the point that it's particularly important in tis case to leave a redir, as the proposed title is less recognisable. Andrewa (talk) 16:12, 2 February 2023 (UTC)[reply]

2500 year old persian empire?[edit]

The sentence "On April 1, 1979, the 2,500-year-old Persian Empire in Iran came to an end,..." doesn't make any sense. In the last 2500 years a lot of different empires were ruling over Iran, not all of them where either Iranian or Persian (e.g. the makedonian Seleukids, the Arabs, the Mongol Ilkhanate,...). The overthrown Pahlavi empire itself didn't use the word "Persian". So I don't see any 2500 year old continuum going to an end, especially not a "2,500-year-old Persian Empire" 80.150.219.75 (talk) 07:53, 17 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]
