Untitled[edit]

I found this page sort of by accident. It is incomplete and not completely accurate. According to the official unit linage hanging on the wall of the Berlin Armory, the 197th was formed earlier and from the 1sht through 5th NH Infantry Regt. Somewhere I also have a photocopy of a regimental year book from the early 1900 that confirms this as well as some of the other details of the unit. There is also no modern history. 3rd BN served in Viet Nam shooting M114 155mm Hows in '68-69 as I recall (will research exact dates) and in Kuwait from Nov 10 - Aug 11 conducting convoy security into Iraq for Operation New Dawn. HHS (Fwd) 2nd BN was deployed as MPs during Operation Iraqi Freedom across Iraq and earned more Purple Hearts than any unit deployed from New Hampshire in support of the War on Terror. As I type, I also don't remember seeing anything about WWII Service in the Pacific.

This is my first attempt at a contribution. Be gentle.
