This edition of south african history seems very much biased, as it almost only focuses on the military and police-history of the country, almost nothing about the atrocities and killings done by the authorities in the townships nor demonstrations by blacks arrests ech. This impressiopn is made stronger when people from the black resistance consequetly are called terrorists, a highly controversial wiev. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 80.203.137.8 (talk) 16:09, 18 April 2011 (UTC)[reply]

This series of articles seems to only focus on unrest in South Africa, and the terror/freedom campaign waged by the ANC. It makes South Africa sound like a war zone - which it wasn't. Preceding unsigned comment added by 81.100.25.207 (talk) 01:31, 14 August 2011 UTC

The United States Department of State designated the African National Congress of South Africa a "Terrorist Organization" and retained this designation well into the 21st century. This was entirely consistent with the actions of the ANC, irrespective of what it may have deemed justification for such actions. Part of the reason for this may be seen in a United States Special National Intelligence Estimate of 1986 entitled : "The African National Congress of South Africa: Organization, Communist Ties, and Short-Term Prospects, SNIE 73-86; July 1986". In this document it is stated unequivocally:

"Most ANC bombings since late last year have been directed against civilian rather than government targets. A recent ANC statement specifically noted that white farmers and urban white males were considered by the ANC as part of the government's “security forces” and were valid targets for ANC operations".

It certainly is very difficult to understand what other term to apply to an organization that disposes of innocent people by draping tires over their shoulders, soaking them in gasoline, and burning the victims to death in screaming agony, and then calls it "necklacing" [1]. If this does not define a "Terrorist Organization", then Wikipedia should remove the term from all organizations including specifically from Al Qaeda and other such organizations. Of course Wikipedia could always commendably elect to have a balanced view on South Africa that does NOT automatically subscribe to the view of those who now govern the country as a result of such actions. If it elects to NOT refer to the ANC as a Terrorist Organization, then calling the 9-11 event in the United States a "Terrorist Attack" should also be deemed "highly controversial", as suggested above.
