Given that Matata is only about 12km from Edgecumbe, the distance and direction of the epicentre from Matata as stated seems off.

Most Damaging Quake ??[edit]

This page currenly says:

"The earthquake was the most damaging New Zealand has experienced in recent decades, with approximately 50% of the houses in Edgecumbe being damaged by the quake. "
