[edit]

It is extraordinary that the football (soccer) match between Arsenal and Liverpool on 26 May 1989 (which Arsenal won 2-0, with a crucial last-minute second goal, to win the closest-ever Football League championship [on goals scored only - after tying on points and goal difference]) is not mentioned. It is one of the most significant club football matches ever and provided the background for the film 'Fever Pitch'. It ought to merit inclusion on the main 1989 page (it is certainly more significant than the previous day's Stanley Cup) as well as the UK version.

The match is mentioned in the articles 1989 in association football and 1988-89 in English football. Tim! (talk) 19:33, 10 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]
