It needs at least a one sentence description of every storm to be a start.--Nilfanion (talk) 09:21, 9 June 2006 (UTC)[reply]

During several automated bot runs the following external link was found to be unavailable. Please check if the link is in fact down and fix or remove it in that case!

Doug, Enrique and 13W

[edit]

@Typhoon2013: Do you have any source and/or proof that these are recognized by JMA as official tropical cyclones? Where are their 10-min sustained winds? — Preceding unsigned comment added by ABC paulista (talkcontribs)

@ABC paulista: I would presume that @Typhoon2013: is using the weather maps produced by the JMA on Digital Typhoon. Also remember that we do not need 10-min winds for a system to be classified as something.Jason Rees (talk) 16:38, 6 August 2017 (UTC)[reply]
@Jason Rees: Maybe, but I still want to see his actual reasoning. I find strange that they don't show Enrique's and Doug's names. ABC paulista (talk) 17:05, 6 August 2017 (UTC)[reply]
Its not strange since they didn't recognise Doug and Enrique as tropical storms, after all the JMA were not the naming agency at that time. Its also worth noting that the JMA don't include names these days when a system has weakened below tropical storm intensity or if its been assigned by PAGASA.Jason Rees (talk) 17:26, 6 August 2017 (UTC)[reply]
But at least do the coordinates and dates match? ABC paulista (talk) 17:40, 6 August 2017 (UTC)[reply]
@ABC paulista: I use digital typhoon which includes JMA's BT for TCs and its weather maps. We always include the RSMC's systems especially if it was just a TD, and you should know that, and for instance here, Enrique was recognized by the JMA. This should also be a reason why there is a change in the season dates and totals as I have included the minor TDs in some of the articles (especially from years since 1982). Typhoon2013 (talk) 06:46, 6 August 2017 (UTC)[reply]
Generally speaking the coordinates and dates will always have some difference between agencies, but I am sure that we wouldn't be putting them in if there was a big difference in the coordinates or dates.Jason Rees (talk) 18:53, 6 August 2017 (UTC)[reply]
@Typhoon2013: @Jason Rees: Ok, but what about Doug and 13W? I believe that since JMA don't include TDs in its best track, it would be better if you guys include these weather maps as references for these systems' sections, for the sake of verification. ABC paulista (talk) 21:06, 6 August 2017 (UTC)[reply]
I agree that it would be a good idea to include the weather maps as a reference, as for Doug and 13W just change the date of the map to the date you wish to see.Jason Rees (talk) 21:16, 6 August 2017 (UTC)[reply]
