OK, done. Does the same apply to other years? In which year did it become the ExxonMobil Open (or do we need to include the sponsor's name at all?)--Kotniski (talk) 12:26, 13 September 2010 (UTC)[reply]
I'm uncertain at the minute as to whether the tournament started out as the Qatar Mobil Open in 1993, but since the merger of Exxon and Mobil took place in November 1999, it looks as though only articles prior to the 2000 Qatar ExxonMobil Open need moving. How about just moving all of them to "....Qatar Open"? There was some discussion at the tennis project some time ago about whether to include sponsors' names in such titles - do we know the outcome?--Kotniski (talk) 16:29, 13 September 2010 (UTC)[reply]
On the thing of a consensus, it was raised earlier in the year and it was proved that Sponsor names provide more internet sites than a generic name, but no consensus either way. Consensus in 2008 seamed to be for the non tournament name Qatar Open, but it wasn't very clear. It started again for a second time in 08 and defo no consenus. And came up for a third time in 08. This seamed to come up with the common none sponsored name as a consenus, but you can look at that on archieve 3 of the tennis discussion page. So if we go by that then the non sponsored name, but double check it by reading the disussion. KnowIG (talk) 20:29, 13 September 2010 (UTC)[reply]
