39th anniversary

[edit]

I have removed the line “It was the 39th anniversary of the original touring car endurance race held at the Mount Panorama Circuit in 1963”. An anniversary is, according to Wiktionary “…a day that is an exact number of years (to the day) since the event occurred…” Thus “the 39th anniversary of the original touring car endurance race held at the Mount Panorama Circuit” was a day, (6 October 2002), not an event (2001 V8 Supercar 1000). Instead of just deleting, perhaps you could re-write it? --Falcadore (talk) 01:26, 1 June 2008 (UTC)[reply]
That's the approach that I would usually take but in this case I couldn't really see what meaningful alternative wording could replace what was originally said. GTHO (talk) 01:36, 1 June 2008 (UTC)[reply]
As opposed to something like, the 39th year of touring car enduros at Bathurst? The line was intended to reflect the modern interpretation of Bathurst history which tends to drop the three Phillip Island races. --Falcadore (talk) 01:46, 1 June 2008 (UTC)[reply]
