Ten/Pit game[edit]

This is written...

In the extra period, referee Ron Blum announced that each team had three timeouts, which was odd considering they were supposed to get two.[1]

...it is actually wrong, and the article cited appears to be either misquoted, misleading, or was also incorrect.

  • In regular season play, the overtime period is "special," and it mimicks a repeat of the fourth quarter. Each team gets 2 timeouts. They have a 2 minute warning as well.
  • In postseason play, the overtime is different. It's been compared to "starting the game over." They treat the quarters as they are normally..1st, 2nd, etc., and each team gets 3 timeouts per "half."
    • Note that the Carolina/St. Louis overtime game a year later demonstrated this. The first 15 minute period expired with no scoring. They did not have a 2 minute warning at the end of that first period. That put them into a second overtime period. Instead of re-kicking off, the teams traded sides (as they normally do at the end of the first quarter), and they drive continued where they left off.

I'm going to correct the text to reflect the correct rules. Doctorindy (talk) 22:21, 12 November 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Mention of 2005-06 Redskins and Panthers[edit]

I have eliminated the mention of the 2005 Redskins and Panthers teams. Previously they had been cited as teams that came close to a #5 versus #6 matchup. I find this to be irrelevant for the purposes of this article and distracting from the main point. Also, the 2010 #5 seed Ravens nearly hosted the #6 seed Jets in the playoffs, so Redskins/Panthers was not the only time this nearly occurred. In the end, there is no reason to talk about teams from 2005, 2010, etc. — Preceding unsigned comment added by PowerSurge1000 (talkcontribs) 16:44, 24 February 2011 (UTC)[reply]

NFC Championship game POV[edit]

Is it just me, or is this game's recap written from a Philadelphia Eagles POV rather than a neutral one? CRRaysHead90 | We Believe! 13:54, 20 October 2011 (UTC)[reply]
