General

• Images are good

Lead

• "Savoldelli gained the lead of the race after the Giro's thirteenth stage.[2] Before Savoldelli gained the lead, there were five riders who led the race over eight occasions." - repetitive use of "gained the lead". I would suggest reversing these sentences: "Five riders led the race over eight occasions before Savoldelli gained the lead after the Giro's thirteenth stage."
• "With Paolo Savoldelli's general classification victories in 2005 and in 2002, Savoldelli became the nineteenth rider to repeat as winner of the Giro d'Italia." - Kind of redundant to note a second time that Savoldelli won in 2005. Perhaps: "Having previously won the general classification in 2002, Savoldelli became the nineteenth rider to repeat as winner of the Giro d'Italia."
• "...Italian Stefano Zanini won the intergiro classification." - and Italian Stefano Zanini won the intergiro classification.

Teams

• "Giro began with a peloton of 198 cyclists.[6] Out of the 198 riders that started..." - repetition. Start the second sentence with "Of the riders that started this edition of the Giro d'Italia, a total of 153 riders made it to the finish in Milan.

Race overview

• You're starting several sentences with "the stage came down to...". It would be helpful to change this up a bit more.
• "The seventh stage saw a breakaway succeed again, with Liberty Seguros-Würth rider Koldo Gil took the downhill stage win." - replace "with" with "as".
• I notice that while you note Savoldelli's lead shrunk in stage 19, he isn't mentioned following the final stage, so the reader is left hanging as to whether he won or not. It would be useful to note explicitly here that he won the race, and perhaps his margin of victory.

Classification leadership

• "The first rider to cross the Stelvio was Selle Italia Colombia's José Rujano." - Needs a cite

Overall

Another fine Giro article. As usual, my only real concerns are minor prose nitpicks. And I will be happy to pass this once they are looked at. Cheers! Resolute 23:25, 11 April 2013 (UTC)
