Informal vote[edit]

The by-election was also marked by a high rate of apathy and disinterest, resulting in the informal vote going up from 8% at the general election to 13% at the by-election

Was this all disillusionment or anything to do with the high number of candidates? From recollection the seat with the most candidates in the 2004 federal election also had the highest informal vote. Timrollpickering 01:07, 15 November 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I find the quoted text a questionable assertion too. There's an established link between the informal vote and the number of candidates. Though the absence of an official Liberal candidate probably played a role too. Digestible (talk) 10:09, 21 April 2009 (UTC)[reply]
I wrote that based on the sources - there were a few at the time, IIRC, basically saying that there wasn't much in the way of issues, and that people weren't paying much attention to the campaign. Rebecca (talk) 10:14, 21 April 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Class="Start" - well sourced, well structured article. Could (maybe) use a photo of local campaigning / victory etc? Importance = "mid" - "yet another by-election", but it was related to Mark Latham, short-term federal opposition leader.Garrie 05:58, 10 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]
