Metrolink/Alvarez trial

[edit]

Has the hearing scheduled for March 16 occurred? What was the outcome? I haven't been able to find anything on any of the news sites about it. slambo 14:27, Mar 18, 2005 (UTC)

I'm tempted to remove the entry for March 16 in the Future Events list since I can see nothing about it anywhere except in references about the arraignment last month. slambo 15:12, Mar 24, 2005 (UTC)

World's first biogas train makes maiden voyage in Sweden Date: Monday, October 24 [2005] http://www.peakoil.com/printout8606.html 24 Oct 2005 (monday) - World's first biogas train makes maiden voyage in Sweden STOCKHOLM, Oct 24 (AFP) The world's first train to run on biogas, a renewable energy source made up of organic waste, on Monday made its maiden voyage in Sweden, a country that has high hopes for biofuels. "The train left on time, at 2:32 pm (1242 GMT) and everything is going well," said Peter Unden, head of marketing at Svensk Biogas, the company that owns the train. The train which links the city of Linkoeping, just south of Stockholm, to the east coast town of Vaestervik some 80 kilometers (50 miles) away, is scheduled to make one trip a day to begin with, "but our ambition is that it will eventually make two or more," Unden told AFP by telephone from the moving train. http://www.sweden.se/templates/cs/NewsML____12744.aspx?newsid=1099 The first train running on biogas, a renewable energy product obtained from organic waste, was put into operation in Sweden on October 24, according to an announcement from Svensk Biogas. The train connects the cities of Linkoping, to the south of Stockholm, and Vastervik, on the eastern coast of Sweden, approximately 80 km away. The train consists of a single railway car with a capacity of about 60 passengers built originally by Fiat in which the diesel engines have been replaced by two Volvo engines ... http://www.highbeam.com/doc/1G1:138129815/FIRST+TRAIN+FUELLED+BY+BIOGAS+PUT+INTO+SERVICE+IN+SWEDEN.html?refid=SEO
