Seeming as the people looking for the FIFA world cup greatly outnumber every other option put together, it's more user friendly to have it redirect there. We don't enlighten users with information they don't want, I placed a dab link at the top of the 2006 FIFA World Cup article, anyone who is interested can click there to be taken to it. What do people want to do now that it is over? I recommend leaving it like it currently is until World Cup Hysetria dies down and then directing it to the next most prominent 'world cup' event be it FIFA football or otherwise. For reference the next FIFA world cup will be the FIFA 2010 World Cup
