I have never seen the term 'Second Bundesliga' in use. '2. Bundesliga' is what you see everywhere. Googling revealed, that Second Bundesliga is indeed used, but apparently very rarely. Also the main article about this league is also called 2. Fußball-Bundesliga. If it someone could argue convincingly, that 'Second Bundesliga' should be used, then this would obviously be valid for the main article, too. Also there are about 30 (very rough estimate) other article which use 'Second Bundesliga' instead of '2. Bundesliga' in their name. If everybody agrees, that '2. Bundesliga' is the name of choice, I would move those article, too.

From my experience, I broadly agree Knepflerle (talk) 13:01, 7 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Oppose. The trouble is, "2." is the German abbreviation for 'second', and not the English one. In my view, the approach to naming these articles should be more English than it is, and not less, so 'Second Bundesliga' would indeed be better for the main article. Regarding the last two oppositions: I quote this from the introduction of Wikipedia:Naming conventions (use English): "Use the most commonly used English version of the name of the subject as the title of the article, as you would find it in verifiable reliable sources". This is quite clear on what should be done. Proper English should be used for the title, if there is no other standard already established in the English language. "2." is by far the most used abbrevation in English articles concerning the "2./Second Bundesliga". Therefore a move to "2. Bundesliga 2008-09" would be appropriate.
