Bayer Leverkusen[edit]

Their home ground will undergo renovation and extension during this season. Since safety requirements cannot be fulfilled during work, all home games in 2009 are moved to nearby Düsseldorf's LTU-Arena.

Teams with an equal amount of points and goals for/against[edit]

Since there were several occasions of teams being absolutely equal on points and goals scored/allowed in the past couple of weeks, I thought it is better to write a sentence or two about it here instead of having a constant back-and-forth editing.

When teams have a) the same number of points, b) the same goal differential and c) the same number of goals scored, they will be ranked on exactly the same place. For example, Bayern Munich and Wolfsburg are both ranked 2nd after 25 matches because they have an exactly equal record.

Wolfsburg does not rank 3rd since there exists no head-to-head tie breaker in German football. Therefore, edits which change any spots of absolutely equal teams will get reverted. --Soccer-holic (talk) 12:14, 23 March 2009 (UTC)[reply]

2^nd place goes into the group stage of champions league and the 3^rd place goes into the final qualification round of champions league. How would they determine who gets what? Kingjeff (talk) 19:25, 23 March 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Upon further research I have found the complete tie-breaking procedures. It is stated there that head-to-head is the next tie breaker, after that away goals in hth comparison, total away goals and finally a decision match. So shame on me for being a little too quick in fact determination, sorry... Nevertheless, those tie-breakers are, just as in Italy, only applied after the end of the season. Otherwise, the Bundesliga website wouldn't have both Bayern and Wolfsburg ranked 2nd at the moment (see official match table. Again, sorry... --Soccer-holic (talk) 21:01, 23 March 2009 (UTC)[reply]
