Edit war[edit]

At the moment, there is a case of edit warring with the following statement

"After all the anticipation and the massive build-up to this match, the first quarter did not dissapoint. It was one of the most absorbing, intense 30 minutes of football for the season, and certainly one of the best Grand Final opening quarters for years."

in the first paragraph of the match summary, being replaced by an anonymous user who continually uses a new IP. This, to me, is an objective statement which lacks appropriate tone. Regardless of whether I'm correct or not, I want to get some consensus on this statement and whether it should be included or not. Aspirex (talk) 06:25, 9 November 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Not a valid statement?[edit]

I remember being at this Grand Final and being on the edge of my seat for the whole of the first quarter. I find it difficult to remember an opening quarter to an AFL Grand final that was so closely contested for the full 30 minutes, which was also the feeling which seemed to be generated from the crowd [and the ground announcer at quarter time]. I find there is nothing wrong with including the statement in the summary, but then again, it is probably more down to opinion than fact. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 59.101.129.15 (talk) 08:48, 9 November 2008 (UTC)[reply]

    • It may be reasonable to compare the first quarter with those of other Grand Finals, but the build-up always has a lot to do with it. I don't think it's reasonable to compare it with all other first quarters for the season though. Incidentally, the 2002 first quarter was a classic. Aspirex (talk) 14:07, 9 November 2008 (UTC)[reply]
    • I still strongly believe that the first quarter of the 2008 Grand Final featured 30 minutes of the best, most intense football of the entire season. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 59.101.165.146 (talk) 05:43, 10 November 2008 (UTC)[reply]

2007 Grand Final?[edit]

If you look on the upper right hand corner of the article, the emblem says "2007 grand final"... wtf? Jas315 (talk) 03:30, 27 November 2008 (UTC)[reply]

That's because there's no free version of the 2008 Grand Final logo available, and this was the closest thing to it. timsdad (talk) 06:10, 27 November 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Warmest Grand Final in history?[edit]

No citation here. I also think this is just plain false, the 1987 GF reached 31 degrees did it not? — Preceding unsigned comment added by 136.8.2.69 (talk) 05:41, 28 September 2011 (UTC)[reply]
