Naming conventions

[edit]

In all of the other international baseball tournament articles, the team from the island of Taiwan is referred to as Chinese Taipei. I personally do not want to get into the political arguments surrounding the naming and organisation of People's Republic of China and Republic of China, if for no other reason than that I know I don't fully understand the arguments from each side. However, Wikipedia articles - at least as far as sporting teams - refer to PRC teams as China and ROC teams as Chinese Taipei, and for the sake of consistency, as well as reducing any confusion there might be for someone who's not aware of the potential for multiple names for each side, that the physical locations should be referred to with the same names as the teams that represent them.

In short (in particular directed at the IP user who changed the places to Mainland China and Republic of China (Taiwan)) please leave China and Chinese Taipei as they are!  Afaber012  (talk)  02:33, 6 August 2009 (UTC)[reply]
