Recap of Sox-Cavalry game 1[edit]

Afaber your recap, while spot on, only mentions Sydney players and events. While Canberra didn't do much, it reads one-sided. I've drafted an alternative (which adds to it) in my sandbox if you want to take a look and consider for inclusion.  Qwertyqwas  (talk)  13:25, 7 November 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Your's seems fine. I was trying to follow the same process I used for the 2010 Claxton Shield finals series, where I was trying to mention the "notable" events only. The sequence of events for the major scoring opportunity and for the only run of the game seemed fairly safe that way but not much else: having been to the game - and being a Blue Sox season member - maybe I was a bit biased. I was going to come back and take another pass at it, but it looks like you've saved me the trouble... go right ahead and put your version in!
While I think of it, I'm wondering if we should have a summary for each of the 120 games during the season at this level of detail, or whether it should be more a summary of each series. I'm not sure which way we should go, though writing 120 summaries over the next couple of months seems a little daunting to me.  Afaber012  (talk)  19:04, 7 November 2010 (UTC)[reply]
Opening game should be an exception, but I wouldn't go more than a few sentences for each series after that, remember it's a 30 series season. JRA_WestyQld2 Talk 11:51, 8 November 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Openning night[edit]

I'm splitting out the openning night description and linescore from the rest of the round 1 section. I think that will help to justify the larger description of the game compared to the descriptions for the other rounds (which I'm about to take a stab at), while also making a bit more sense in terms of the timing of it compared to the rest of the round, but I'm open to other ideas.  Afaber012  (talk)  07:14, 15 November 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Extra innings[edit]

For the linescores, don't see any need to list each extra inning played, all just under the guise of "X". For the two Rd2 matches that went into extras (Perth-Adelaide and Brisbane-Sydney) I have added a footnote to that series as to how many innings were played for the respective matches. Seems like the tidiest way to do it. If another/better way has been used in the past we can use that instead.  Qwertyqwas  (talk)  15:54, 19 November 2010 (UTC)[reply]

I could go either way on using the "X" as opposed to enumerating each of the extra innings played. I actually put the X into the template as an option, more of a way to control the size of the template for longer games. But I'm a fan of showing each inning if runs were scored in more than one of the extra innings. At the end of the day though, I don't mind too much, as long as the same way is used for all of them.
The usual notation that's been used for games that finished in fewer or greater number of innings than scheduled is to use ([[Mercy rule#Baseball and softball|F/7]]) for a mercy rule finish and ([[Extra innings|F/10]]) for a game in extra innings - obviously adjusting the number as needed. I put it in the "other" parameter for the mercy rule game from Sydney v Canberra.  Afaber012  (talk)  20:18, 19 November 2010 (UTC)[reply]
I think you have to include all innings for the reason stated above, if you have multiple extra innings with runs scored, it can get confusing. If we use the standard F/12 etc code, it is a lot simpler than a footnote. JRA_WestyQld2 Talk 02:34, 22 November 2010 (UTC)[reply]
Let's do that then. :)  Qwertyqwas  (talk)  06:09, 22 November 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Attendance figures[edit]

So there are two regular games where attendance data was not published by the ABL - not much we can do about that. However, it seems for double headers there are no attendance figures published for the first of the two games, only for the second. Should we assume the attendance for both games to be the same? Double counting should be used (for the aforementioned reason) since we are talking about attendance for two separate games, not ticket sales. I ask this because it affects the cumulative total (and average) attendance in the infobox on 2010–11 Australian Baseball League season.

Also, for the Brisbane-Perth double header in round 1, someone has listed attendance for the first game as 858 yet the ABL didn't publish a figure for this match (according to the hyperlinked box score). Is there another source for this data?  Qwertyqwas  (talk)  17:08, 19 November 2010 (UTC)[reply]

I think unless there are separate figures used for the two games of the doubleheaders, then we assume the same attendance for both games for the season totals and for the game linescores.
I put the attendance figure in for game 1 of that doubleheader. They did have the attendance listed, but must have removed it between then and now. I was wondering how they would handle it with tickets being good for both games, and was surprised to see both a figure and one that was different from the game 2 one.  Afaber012  (talk)  20:39, 19 November 2010 (UTC)[reply]
In Brisbane we take the attendance from the start of the first game and the end of the last game, which is the attendance overall really. JRA_WestyQld2 Talk 02:30, 22 November 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Spelling[edit]

Can I just add as a spelling Nazi who has seen it a few times, opener or opening is with one 'n'. JRA_WestyQld2 Talk 06:48, 30 November 2010 (UTC)[reply]
