I have started this page, Toronto FC ( 2010 Toronto FC season ) have already started their page so I decided to start this one. --User:Antoinefcb

Emerald City Cup

[edit]

Should this go in the Preseason section ?? Antoinefcb (talk) 23:44, 29 November 2009 (UTC)[reply]

I took a look at the article and nothing in there is cited. Unless there are reliable sources available on the subject, this should not be added. --SkotyWATalk|Contribs 05:34, 4 December 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Article destiny: WP:GA

[edit]

I recently made some radical changes to how this article is organized. My intention with this bold change was to point this article in the right direction so that after we've filled in all of the details for the season (once the season is complete) it will easily pass good article review. A similar effort is being worked on with the 2009 season article here, but it's a lot harder to accomplish this post mortem for season articles. Examples of soccer club season articles that are WP:GA listed include: Bradford City A.F.C. season 2007-08, Bristol Rovers F.C. season 2006-07, and Sunderland A.F.C. season 2007–08‎ (this is the one I'm trying to emulate most). Thank you to all editors of this article (current and future) for making sure that all contributions have inline citations, are encyclopedic, and have a neutral point of view. --SkotyWATalk|Contribs 17:08, 25 November 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Yeah good idea Thank you so much, Happy Thanksgiving Skotywa ! Antoinefcb (talk) 23:43, 29 November 2009 (UTC)[reply]

'09 reminder

[edit]

'09 still needs some work. I started throwing in information at my sandbox some time ago. If anyone wants to fiddle with it feel free. I'll keep it up until it is done or put it in a subpage. User:Cptnono/Sandbox. Cptnono (talk) 02:20, 29 November 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Getting the '09 season article to WP:GA will be something I'd like to work on with you after Qwest Field and Seattle Sounders FC pass WP:FA review. Thanks again Cptnono for all your hard work on both of these and for setting up the article sandbox for the '09 season article. I suspect if we "finish" the article in your sandbox and then blast the whole thing in one edit onto the "live" page, we could pretty easily nominate it for WP:DYN which I think would be awesome. --SkotyWATalk|Contribs 05:42, 4 December 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Away Game?

[edit]

The second game might be home! There is a week between the Philadelphia Union game and the Real Salt Lake game. I will put the away game as Week 3 of the season. Antoinefcb (talk) 23:22, 29 November 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Players in Camp

[edit]

I am starting the players in camp. Our 3 draft picks will go in this category because they havent signed with the club. Antoinefcb (talk) 21:44, 18 January 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Mike Seamon has left camp to go back to college. Antoinefcb (talk) 21:00, 29 January 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Barnstar

[edit]

I have completed almost all the schedule, players in camp, La Manga, and Preseason games. Do I have what it takes to have a barnstar ?? Antoinefcb (talk) 00:51, 4 February 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Hmmm... *golf clap* Congrats. I just finished updating the rest of the league's schedules (except Philly, half of Seattle, and Toronto). :D But on the serious front, hopefully you aren't editing on Wikipedia for the barnstars. Otherwise, you'll be sorely disappointed in just how few you get. --Bobblehead (rants) 04:04, 4 February 2010 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks for doing the rest. Im not, I have worked to increase the articles. Antoinefcb (talk) 20:36, 4 February 2010 (UTC)[reply]

David Estrada

[edit]

I not sure if he signed. Antoinefcb 21:27, 5 February 2010 (UTC)

He's signed.[1] --Bobblehead (rants) 22:02, 5 February 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Pre-season formatting

[edit]

Rather than revert Skotywa and start a discussion on how to format the pre-season in the schedule section, I figured I'd just start the discussion. I guess I'm not understanding the need to merge to the pre-season matches with the La Manga Cup matches. Obviously the cup is taking place during the pre-season, but the fact that it's an organized tourney would seem to mandate separating it out in the same manner that the CCL is separated out from the regular season even though they are taking place at the same time. Even if it is just a fake Cup, no one is going to be saying "We won the La Manga Cup, we rock!!", but it's still an organized event that has a bit more importance than your normal pre-season matches. --Bobblehead (rants) 19:25, 11 February 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Do you have a link to the second Vancouver game ?? Antoinefcb 20:19, 11 February 2010 (UTC)
I think it's debatable whether or not it has more importance than normal preseason matches. We'll see which players get time in the matches. I doubt it'll be very many starters. I'm not married to putting the matches in the preseason section. It seemed like the best option though. I think it's mistaken to have them in a section that gives no indication that it was a preseason (ie. meaningless) training activity. Other ideas I concidered were to make it a subsection of preseason or modify the section heading to be "La Manga Cup (preseason)" maybe. Having it be at the same level as the MLS regular season and the Champions League seemed wrong though. Some other clue is necessary to indicate that these games did not matter (were not competetive) whether that be though marking the matches using the round paramter (which Antoinefcb has already removed), adjusting the heading title, or nesting it under preseason. Any of those are fine with me. I can't think of any other ideas. Do you have any? --SkotyWATC 06:29, 12 February 2010 (UTC)[reply]
FWIW, the current state of the article (La Manga Cup matches are mixed in, but are not marked using "round" parameter) needs to be address in some whay. If we don't want to mix them in and mark them, what do you think of the other two ideas? They were: (1) keep it a separate section and add "(preseason)" to the section heading or (2) make the La Manga Cup section a sub section of preseason. I think either of those accomplishes what I was going for as well. --SkotyWATC 18:37, 13 February 2010 (UTC)[reply]
In strolling through the season articles for last season it looks like there is a mix on how pre-season cups are included. 2009 Toronto FC season includes it as a sub-section under pre-season, 2009 D.C. United season includes it as its own section, while 2009 Real Salt Lake season doesn't include them at all. Obviously we don't want to go the route of RSL's article, but I would think a separate section is needed. Whether it is a sub-section under pre-season or as its own section doesn't much matter to me.--Bobblehead (rants)
That sounds good. I've gone ahead moved them to a subsection. --SkotyWATC 17:18, 15 February 2010 (UTC)[reply]

2010 Attendance

[edit]

Looks like Sounders FC are on their way to breaking their attendance records from last season. The Sounders FC Facebook page announced yesterday that "The opener & the 5/8 game vs the Galaxy have sold out. Less thank [sic] 1K tickets remain for each of the other matches." Unfortunately I can't find a way to link to a specific posting in FB, and they don't appear to have posted this information officially at their web site, but simple math says that with the expanded capacity to 36,000 seats per game this season, they're on track to break the records they set last season for highest average and highest overall attendance in a season. Worth noting?

87Fan (talk) 17:32, 2 March 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Ok so the official story is that it's just over 35,000 seats per game, and here's the offical link to the rate of sales: http://www.soundersfc.com/News/Blogs/Rave-Green.aspx?plckController=Blog&plckBlogPage=BlogViewPost&userid=133057d0-e5d9-4688-bf5e-269d98ae27f7&plckPostId=Blog%3a133057d0-e5d9-4688-bf5e-269d98ae27f7Post%3ab0dcfe31-3dbd-43e2-98e8-1bb5ec0850d9&plckScript=blogScript&plckElementId=blogDest

I got the 36,000 number from Wikipedia's own Qwest Field article: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Qwest_Field —Preceding unsigned comment added by 87Fan (talkcontribs) 19:29, 2 March 2010 (UTC)[reply]

The Sounders v. Union game is expected to have 38,000 people. Antoinefcb (talk) 21:17, 24 March 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Question

[edit]

Tonights game against Portland Timbers will be a Community Shield. If we win, will we post it as honours. The trophy looks pretty nice. Antoinefcb (talk) 21:48, 11 March 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Player and team honors

[edit]

Hey so i dont know how to add to this section, but there have been more honors, steve zakuani got a player of the week, and kasey keller a save of the week, also there were three all stars this year, i know that on last years page they included this, but freddy montero, kasey keller and freddie ljungberg (he was still a sounder when named). the team also won the heritage cup this year. i dont know how to do this stuff, or add links to the goals and saves, or add references... full chronological schedule

[edit]

Could someone add another section that lists the full chronological schedule, not just broken down like it is? —Preceding unsigned comment added by 205.241.49.131 (talk) 18:28, 5 August 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Jamel Wallace

[edit]

i heard that Jamel Wallace is on loan to the Kitsap Pumas. truth or no? —Preceding unsigned comment added by 24.113.53.50 (talk) 05:29, 9 August 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Linking and content in the Review section

[edit]

In adding the Chicago match to the Review section, I noticed that there was almost as much blue text as there was black. I went through and removed all but the first link to each player named in the article. I think it makes sense to have the opponents linked each time we play them as well as their stadium and locations for the away matches.

On another note, I found it a little difficult to write the match review without going into too much detail. What I decided on was that since the box score is also on the page, it was more important to capture the mood of the game and a summary of the goals. It didn't look like that was necessarily the practice in the recommended season articles, though in some cases it was, but it made most sense to me. One other thing I was thinking is that perhaps each match should have it's own paragraph. Is that too much information for this page? I'm interested in writing up September as well, but wanted to check in on how this one was received first. Udeezy (talk) 01:35, 17 October 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Stats!

[edit]

Last night drove me mad but at least I found a decent source for some stats. This might be useful (scrol way down) for this article.Cptnono (talk) 21:05, 8 November 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Freddy Montero's Recognition?

[edit]

I'm not sure if this should be placed in the Recognition or not:

Freddy Montereo, won #5 for a goal he scored in the AT&T Goal of the Year (article), but should this mentioned in the Recognition section? Twwalter (talk) 14:59, 14 November 2010 (UTC)[reply]
