I don't want to start controversy by adding it in so thought I would discuss here, but how come the name 'Winter Storm Helena' is not at all mentioned? Tinton5 (talk) 01:51, 8 January 2017 (UTC)[reply]
It is used for commercial reasons. This particular issue has been discussed on numerous occasions in the past with a few reasons given for ultimately excluding the names. Because the names are not officially applied by governmental agencies, with very rare exceptions, they given by The Weather Channel are excluded. Dustin(talk)01:54, 8 January 2017 (UTC)[reply]
I was wondering if someone should add a section to the ongoing flooding in Northern and Central California. Most articles I have read listed the event as being the worst since 1997 and possibly 1986, and I, living in California, know that the 1986 and 1997 floods were record breakers. In fact, in 1986, 29 inches of rain fell in a small town a few miles north of San Francisco. So, that there is significant enough for me to consider at least putting a small section devoted to the ongoing flooding, particularly in the Sierra Nevada.
