Australia membership

[edit]

Quote from the news about Australia joining ASEAN Football Federation membership.

"However, a Football Federation Australia (FFA) spokesperson speaking exclusively to Goal confirmed that the Socceroos were seeking a full membership in AFF and were only awaiting the formalities for confirmation.

"Asean members have unanimously supported our entry into the AFF," said the representative.

"But it still has to be finalised at the meeting of the extraordinary congress in August".

The membership will be for full entry to the federation and Australian teams will initially start participation at the age-group level and in futsal competitions, with plans for the senior team to be included in AFF competitions in the near future." [1]

I think Australia will have the support to become the 12 member of AFF. If Australia become the 12 member of AFF and they included in AFF Suzuki Cup tournament, it will interesting to watch them to change the ASEAN's regional tournament. Wester. Inc (talk) 23:49, 23 April 2013 (EST)

Participants Teams

[edit]

This year 2016 AFF Championship would be different tournament since Myanmar is the co-host of the tournament and they will no play at the qualification round, which mean the lowest ranking teams will replace  Myanmar. I have calculated each teams that play in the previous tournament (2012 AFF Championship) and current (2014 AFF Championship),  Indonesia have the lowest points. As it said so, Indonesia will be playing at qualification round.

If  Australia join this year 2016 AFF Championship,  Vietnam will be playing in qualification as they got replace by Australia as the top six teams. Vietnam have the second lowest point.

Here are the top six teams.

Could this scenario be possible ?

Wikipedia is not a forum nor is it a crystal ball. We should base information on reliable sources and verifiability instead of speculate on what is likely to happen. LRD 00:03, 12 December 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Australia Participation in AFF Suzuki Cup

[edit]

I'm not sure whether  Australia would join 2016 AFF Suzuki Cup. All I know is that Australia is a member of ASEAN FOOTBALL FEDERATION, which they have the right to join the tournament.

No questions that Australia are now AFF members and eligible to join but as mentioned above, there is still no source for Australia's participation. If Australia expressed its intention to participate particularly in the 2016 edition and not just a vague "in the near future", then we can add it. But for now, let's exclude Australia.Hariboneagle927 (talk) 06:05, 4 January 2016 (UTC)[reply]
