Mergers

[edit]

There have been two mergers where the new council is for the new municipality. One of them is between Sandgerði and Garður on Suðurnes and the other is between Fjarðabyggð and Breiðdalshreppur in Eastern Iceland, none of the new municipalities have been named yet, though the latter will likely just continue as Fjarðabyggð as its much bigger than Breiðdalshreppur. See: http://www.ruv.is/frett/gardur-og-sandgerdi-sameinast and http://www.ruv.is/frett/kosid-um-sameiningu-a-austfjordum-i-dag Furthermore, Tjörneshreppur in Northern Iceland didn't hold an election as only one list was presented and the top 5 names on it thus automatically elected, they didn't hold a vote last time either. I doubt it has ever happened that all the rural municipalities are holding a vote, so we can't just mention the number of councils and say elections were held there.--Batmacumba (talk) 19:33, 27 May 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Notability

[edit]

To my surprise the notability of this topic has been questioned by a user, but since we already have articles about the local elections in 2010 and 2014, and a template with red links for Icelandic municipal elections going back to 1930 I assumed we aimed at covering all these local elections in time, and at least make articles about all future local elections in Iceland.--Batmacumba (talk) 14:03, 4 November 2017 (UTC)[reply]

In case it isn't suffient clear, the issue was only with the elections which have not happened yet, not with the elections which have already happened. I have made further comments on the correct procedure for making an article on a future event which is not assumed notable until it has happened. Please do not reply to me here, use my talk page. The above user has been banned in the meantime and his entry deleted, so I can't see what on earth was his problem with this article, but I assume he was simply trolling.--Batmacumba (talk) 19:33, 27 May 2018 (UTC)[reply]
