Independent - capitalise for affiliation?

Party affililations are capitalised by the House of Commons. There seems to be some confusion here as to whether Independents should have their affiliation capitalised.

I say they should. A member's affiliation is a noun, not an adjective. Ergo, an Independent MP, not an independent MP.

I don't know why decades of parliamentary usage has to be justified to an anonymous editor, but here we are. G. Timothy Walton (talk) 02:11, 2 February 2021 (UTC)

In English there are common nouns, which are not capitalized, and proper nouns which are. The name of a political party is a proper noun, like the New Democratic Party. There is no "Independent Party", these MPs who do not belong to a party are independent, common noun, not capitalized. Why would we capitalize a common noun? - Ahunt (talk) 03:58, 2 February 2021 (UTC)
The HOC capitalises Independent when used for affiliation. The lowercase "independent MP" sounds like a peripatetic politician, wandering from parliament to parliament. G. Timothy Walton (talk) 04:41, 2 February 2021 (UTC)

Bolding

Right. Somebody else want to track down the discussion that lead to not bolding the results in the results box? I'm tired of playing whack-a-mole on this. G. Timothy Walton (talk) 00:57, 30 July 2021 (UTC)

Erasing Rhinos and LIbertarians?

What's the deal? May have been another party or two other than them. Like the Animal, something rather. Elections Canada by Party Number of candidates by percentage of valid votes received, by political affiliation

I have no idea what you're referring to. Could you please be more specific? G. Timothy Walton (talk) 02:27, 7 August 2021 (UTC)

Blanchet's photo

Left Blanchet in 2009 (currently used); right in 2021 (uncropped version currently used in his article.

Which photo of Yves-François Blanchet should we use for this article?--Darryl Kerrigan (talk) 23:21, 7 April 2022 (UTC)

The 2021 image should be used. It's much closer to Blanchet's age (and appearance) at the time of the election. — Kawnhr (talk) 23:39, 7 April 2022 (UTC)
Okay, I will change it here as well.--Darryl Kerrigan (talk) 23:43, 7 April 2022 (UTC)
Agreed. Walter Görlitz (talk) 16:55, 14 April 2022 (UTC)
I have added a new request for a more recent photo again. The newer photo discussed above was removed from the commons for a copyright issue.--Darryl Kerrigan (talk) 22:35, 10 March 2023 (UTC)
