Newspaper endorsements

[edit]

The Independent has endorsed Jo Swinson,[1] and it's likely that other newspapers will weigh in on who they back in the leadership election. Should such endorsements be included in this page? Domeditrix (talk) 11:06, 28 June 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Merger proposal

[edit]

I propose that 2019 Liberal Democrats deputy leadership election be merged into this article. I think WP:MERGEREASON 3 provides the clearest rationale, in that the deputy leadership election didn't receive coverage and nothing new is likely to be added in the future. The extent of the article is less than a hundred words, and could easily be added into an aftermath section in this article. There is clear overlap between the subjects. • Support per nom. Domeditrix (talk) 10:38, 13 September 2019 (UTC)[reply]
  • Oppose It was a distinct event at a different time to the leadership election, so I'm not convinced a merge is appropriate. That said, I acknowledge this is a very short article. What about combining several LibDem deputy leadership election articles together? Bondegezou (talk) 15:08, 13 September 2019 (UTC)[reply]
    This is a workable alternative. Jonjonjohny (talk) 11:14, 5 October 2019 (UTC)[reply]
I think the version of this that could work would be a single Liberal Democrats deputy leadership elections article for all the elections. A lot of them don't seem to meet GNG by themselves. Ralbegen (talk) 11:35, 5 October 2019 (UTC)[reply]
  • Oppose The deputy leadership election is a separate event to the leadership election. The established practice on Wikipedia is that each Liberal Democrat deputy leadership election receives its own dedicated page, even if held in the same year as a leadership election which was also the case in 2017. More information can be added to expand this article once details about the nomination process, endorsements etc emerge. Cordyceps-Zombie (talk) 18:39, 14 September 2019 (UTC)[reply]
  • Support per nom. The only candidate in this election was related to the outcome of the Leadership Election and so they are strongly linked. This event isn't highly notable in itself. Support for separate article of dept leadership articles instead. Jonjonjohny (talk) 10:47, 5 October 2019 (UTC)[reply]
