Programmes from other countries

[edit]

I think that shows from other countries should be included in the Debuts section when it's the first time they're shown on British TV - because they're relevant to the year's TV in the UK. Jim Michael (talk) 16:45, 7 April 2019 (UTC)[reply]

The point is that this is not the interpretation that has been given in well over 70 articles titled year "19xx in British television". Apart from that, "Charmed" (to make an example) can't be considered "2019 in Brit. TV", and this has been the view held by all editors until now in these articles. Also, you seem to be ignoring the implications of acting like you propose: the number of premieres of American or European foreign series by streaming services like Amazon Prime and Netflix is utterly staggering, and putting them would end up clogging all these articles.
That said, if you insist, the issue must be brought for discussion elsewhere, since the issues you raise involve, as said, over 70 articles. Probably the best solution would be to raise it at the talk page of WP:BTV. Or also you can raise the question at the talk page of List of years in British television that indexes the individual year in British television pages and there make a WP:RFC.--Aldux (talk) 17:33, 7 April 2019 (UTC)[reply]
I don't object to shows from other countries appearing here if they make their debut. We may need to restrict it to stuff appearing on the main channels and those streamed series that get significant media coverage to avoid making the article excessively long. I didn't include the debuts of US and other series when I wrote these articles, but that was more because it didn't occur to me to include them rather than having any preference for them not to be there. Television shows

[edit]

The "television shows" section needs updating, as marked. I removed series that I know have ended, but I'm unsure if there are any others there that need removing. – DarkGlow (talk) 23:19, 13 May 2019 (UTC)[reply]
