Unbalanced template

[edit]

I'll copy what I posted to Wikipedia:In_the_news/Candidates#2021_Bangladesh_anti-Modi_protests :

There appears to be a lot of bias in the article. For example, it says "This resulted in stone pelting from both sides", then when you go to the citation it only makes mention of protestors throwing stones at police. The selection of citations is also biased, with the sole citation on one part titled "Modi is not welcome in Dhaka: rally". You also need to state the police side of it since that information is out (accusations of vandalism, self-defence, etc); you don't need to believe it, you just need to state it. Uses x (talkcontribs) 17:06, 28 March 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Added ref of clashes from both sides ref from National Herald. Khalidwarrior (talk) 18:44, 28 March 2021 (UTC)[reply]

And in timeline of protest, on 28 March I added that hartal supporters attacked train and the area is burning with citations. Khalidwarrior (talk) 18:48, 28 March 2021 (UTC)[reply]

So, I think you should remove biased template. Khalidwarrior (talk) 18:48, 28 March 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Main protesters

[edit]

The main protester party is Hefazat e Islam, but someone put other parties on top lost. By reading it looks like it is not the main organization. But in all news channels it is the main party. And most of the people killed are their supporters. So it should be correcred. Khalidwarrior (talk) 10:12, 29 March 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Change page name

[edit]

Change page from '2021 Bangladesh anti-Modi protests' to '2021 Bangladesh riots'. The current title of this page is directly targeting Indian Prime Minister Modi & it's looks anti India. No single wiki page has title like this page. Delhi riots have '2020 Delhi riots' page not '2020 Delhi anti CAA protest'. Nitesh003 (talk) 15:47, 30 March 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Very nice matter. But there is a particular page name citizenship amendment Act protests. And the riot is only 4-5 days riot period particularly turning into pure hindu-muslim riots regardless of the matter of caa protests. But this matter is starting anti-modi protests and continuing anti-modi protests. Do understand the difference. Khalidwarrior (talk) 17:33, 30 March 2021 (UTC)[reply]

And anti-modi protest doesn't mean anti India. The page defines the matter also correctly Khalidwarrior (talk) 17:37, 30 March 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Neutrality of the Article is not found

[edit]

Change the page name from '2021 Bangladesh anti-Modi protests' to '2021 Bangladesh riots' or '2021 Bangladesh protests'. It may have started to protest the visit of Prime Minister Modi but it later turned to anti government protests and 13 point demand by the conservative Hefazat-e-Islam. There have been instances of groups of protesters breaking and fighting against each other resulting in injury. There are many other points which is found not to be neutral. As per Wikipedia Policies the article may have to be taken down if the neutrality is not maintained. Debjyoti Gorai (talk) 18:21, 30 March 2021 (UTC)[reply]

I'm removing tag. All the sources are calling it as "anti-Modi protests" so the article has been titled correctly. Prove otherwise and you can propose a request for move. This is not a neutrality dispute. LucrativeOffer (talk) 12:37, 31 March 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Continuing issues with neutrality

[edit]

I have also added a POV tag to this article as it suffers from severe bias and makes no efforts at a neutral narrative at all. To start, the article calls the Gujarat riots 'anti-Muslim' even though hundreds of Hindus also died; it should simply say "during the 2002 Gujarat riots." The article also links to Hindutva when it says "the protesters agitated against India's anti-Muslim policies" which is obvious non-neutral sourcing; there shouldn't be a link to anything, and the sentence should read "the protestors agitated against what they allege are India's anti-Muslim policies." Finally, the writers of the article make a very bizarre attempt to emphasize the role of apparently "progressive students" and to de-emphasize the role of the radical Islamist group Hefazat-e-Islam, even though all articles on the riots point out that group as the primary instigator. More detail on vandalism and property destruction should probably also be added to the first few paragraphs, such as the vandalism of temples, etc. Shivj80 (talk) 13:31, 3 April 2021 (UTC)[reply]

The protests were started by progressive students first and the Islamic groups later joined it. There is also a timeline series on the day to day activities. LucrativeOffer (talk) 15:09, 3 April 2021 (UTC)[reply]
LucrativeOffer Even so, that does not fix the other neutrality issues that this article continues to have. The neutrality dispute template should not be removed until these issues are addressed. Shivj80 (talk) 15:41, 4 April 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Requested move 26 April 2021

[edit]
The following is a closed discussion of a requested move. Please do not modify it. Subsequent comments should be made in a new section on the talk page. Editors desiring to contest the closing decision should consider a move review after discussing it on the closer's talk page. No further edits should be made to this discussion.

The result of the move request was: Not moved, early close per WP:SNOW. The proposer is invited to familiarize themself with WP:Article titles policy. Another, unrelated article being under a different name is rarely a good argument to retitle an article. (non-admin closure) (t · c) buidhe 06:27, 2 May 2021 (UTC)[reply]

2021 Bangladesh anti-Modi protests2021 Bangladesh riots – Many were killed during this so called protest but still the page name is 2021 Bangladesh anti modi protest. The protest turned into violent attack across the country but still we are calling this riot a protest. When US president Donald Trump came to Delhi there was a little violence in capital city which has a Wikipedia page named '2020 Delhi riots' not '2020 Delhi anti Trump protest', so why this page has a such title (2021 Bangladesh anti Modi protest), the title must be '2021 Bangladesh riots'. Nitesh003 (talk) 13:10, 26 April 2021 (UTC) Nitesh003 (talk) 13:10, 26 April 2021 (UTC)[reply]

What are you saying? Are you joking or what? The riots in Delhi is for citizenship amendment Act, not for Trump visit, not a single bit. But in bangladesh the protest which turned violent is for PURE modi visit. And the riot in Delhi is pure Hindu-Muslim riot, which has a long past in India. And in Bangladesh it's not a Muslim-Hindu riot, but in India it is. It is just the protest which turned violent. Many pages are there on wikipedia like that. I know your feeling, but do understand the difference. Regards Khalidwarrior (talk) 23:16, 26 April 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Oppose It seems rather early in the year to create an article "2021 Bangladesh riots". Who knows what other riots may happen, or is it intended to include all riots this year ?♥ L'Origine du monde ♥ Talk

OPPOSE, I have already given my concerns. Khalidwarrior (talk) 23:28, 26 April 2021 (UTC)[reply]
