General information and comments
[edit]This building was built from a 192,000 sq foot standard floor plan It may have been modified at the time of building or in more recent years Walmart Currently closes at 11pm not 24 hours as Chesapeake police reports One of the local news stations keeps playing a report of a woman who left immediately prior to this event but the time line does not add up she finished shopping at Dollar Tree by 9:00pm and left for home. This event didn't happen until about 10:12pm. Did it take her over 1 hour to get out of the parking lot? Not Impossible but not likely 76.123.25.231 (talk) 10:13, 23 November 2022 (UTC)
To add to article
[edit]Basic information to add to the text of this article: the specific type of weapon the shooter used, and how many bullets it had in the chamber or clip. 76.190.213.189 (talk) 02:37, 24 November 2022 (UTC)
It'd be nice if someone had a photo of the Wal-Mart that could be uploaded. Chesapeake's a little far. Virginia Courtsesan (talk) 04:35, 1 October 2023 (UTC)
- Added type of weapon (9mm pistol); still need how many bullets it had in the clip. 76.190.213.189 (talk) 16:08, 25 November 2022 (UTC)
- Modern handguns use magazines not clips. 2601:646:8C01:6940:4996:B9EE:C8E7:9061 (talk) 12:05, 28 November 2022 (UTC)
Person the shooter let go
[edit]To add to this article: the fact that the shooter allowed Jessie Wilczewski (who he knew had a 15-month-old baby at home) to leave the break room unharmed. Source: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=abPcpLm_fF4 76.190.213.189 (talk) 02:38, 24 November 2022 (UTC)

WikiProject Serial Killer task force banner reinstated
[edit]I reinstated the WikiProject Serial Killer task force banner because this article is within the scope of that WikiProject, which includes serial killers, mass murders, spree killers and related topics. Before removing a WikiProject banner, please check the scope of the WikiProject, rather than just the name, to understand what the project covers. If you think this, or any other, WikiProject banner is not appropriate, please discuss its removal first. See WP:PROJSCOPE - Cameron Dewe (talk) 07:28, 24 November 2022 (UTC)
- I'm not a fan of the banner but am open to discussion. Can you point to other examples of rampages or "heat of the moment" type murders that are classified as "serial killing?" The problem is, one of the three types of killing in the serial killer task force definition is too general - mass murder. Mass murder and serial/spree killing are very different in nature, so I'd argue the project scope is not well defined. As for the other two criteria, the event does not fit the definition of serial ("significant period of time between" killings) or spree ("short time, in multiple locations"). So my objection is to both the poor definition of that task force, and then the fact that this event does not fit most of that poor definition.
- I've worked on breaking news stories about shootings, rampages, and attacks for more than a decade on Wikipedia, and have never seen the "serial killer" banner used in these situations. Therefore, for this event, I'd recommend removal of that WikiProject classification. Courtesy ping to CT55555. - Fuzheado | Talk 13:06, 24 November 2022 (UTC)
- No-one's saying this was a serial killing. It's of interest to the SKTF because it fits its criteria, which isn't limited to serial killing. Jim Michael 2 (talk) 14:08, 24 November 2022 (UTC)
- Then please change your name - it's silly to keep causing confusion by adding the "Serial Killer" to articles while also admitting it's not a serial killing. You are basically blaming the user when the WikiProject itself is the one at fault. - Fuzheado | Talk 14:43, 24 November 2022 (UTC)
- I didn't name it & don't have the power to change it. I've been in discussions about its name, but consensus on a new name has never been reached. Jim Michael 2 (talk) 16:49, 24 November 2022 (UTC)

- I also have, and I've seen the SKTF banner on hundreds of talk pages of articles about mass murders. Jim Michael 2 (talk) 14:08, 24 November 2022 (UTC)
- All serial killings are mass murders, but not all mass murders are serial killings. I'm not sure what your point is with this statement. It is also possible that hundreds of those talk pages are being incorrectly labeled. - Fuzheado | Talk 14:45, 24 November 2022 (UTC)
- Most mass murders aren't serial & most serial killings aren't mass. However, both types are clearly within the task force's scope, so the banner is correctly on the talk pages of articles about those types of killings. This mass shooting is clearly also a mass murder. Jim Michael 2 (talk) 16:49, 24 November 2022 (UTC)

- Point of information - Even those involved with the task force have noted the logical flaw of putting serial, spree, and mass murder in the same grouping. So I am not alone in this concern about poor scoping. Conversation starts at: Wikipedia_talk:WikiProject_Crime_and_Criminal_Biography/Serial_Killer_task_force#Renaming_of_the_task_force. - Fuzheado | Talk 13:18, 24 November 2022 (UTC)
- On many occasions, people who haven't read the SKTF banner wrongly assume that its scope is limited to serial killing. They remove the banner from the talk page, saying that the article isn't about serial killing. Someone then reinstates it, pointing out that its scope covers more than serial killing. There have been many discussions about it, but we've never reached a conclusion about changing its name or scope. Jim Michael 2 (talk) 14:08, 24 November 2022 (UTC)
- Then PLEASE rename your project, as you have discussed in the past on the talk page. It is a poor scoping given the name. - Fuzheado | Talk 14:41, 24 November 2022 (UTC)
- It's not mine. I've long wanted the name to be changed to better describe its scope & have suggested Multiple murder task force as a better name. Jim Michael 2 (talk) 16:49, 24 November 2022 (UTC)
- Those seeking to change the name of the task force should restart and contribute to the discussion at Wikipedia talk:WikiProject Crime and Criminal Biography/Serial Killer task force#Renaming of the task force. WWGB (talk) 02:53, 26 November 2022 (UTC)

- This is a ridiculous situation because this is only time in my history of adding and removing WikiProject banners when the name does not intuitively explain the scope. Editors might logically assume that WikiProject Canada does not include articles on USA in its mandate, and that WikiProject Sailing does not include archery in its mandate and therefore I think it was quite reasonable of me to assume that WikiProject Serial Killer task force was focussed on serial killers. It's not reasonable to ask people to check for such unusual circumstances and instead, as people have already stated, we should ask the project to use a name that matches its scope. CT55555(talk) 23:25, 28 November 2022 (UTC)
- The project's name should be changed, but the banner makes clear its scope. Jim Michael 2 (talk) 20:40, 5 December 2022 (UTC)
- Thanks CT55555 - I'm racking my brain trying to recall a time when there was this poor of a mismatch between the name of a WikiProject and its applied use, and I cannot. I'm trying to assume good faith here, but can only feel we are being gaslighted. - Fuzheado | Talk 07:36, 29 November 2022 (UTC)
- I don't know why the project's name was chosen. Serial killers are too narrow a subject for a project, so they probably decided to have a wider scope but mistakenly chose the wrong name. Jim Michael 2 (talk) 20:40, 5 December 2022 (UTC)
