Incorrect official results?[edit]

Strangely, I can't reconcile the gains and losses for each party at this election. The BBC and other media sources say CON -9, LAB +3, IND +4, PC No change, GRN +2, LD No change. This gives an overall nil increase to the council, while we know Denbighshire gained an extra councillor at this election.

The results in 2017 (which weren't altered by the two subsequent by-elections) were CON 16, LAB 13, IND 8, PC 9, GRN 0, LD 1. The results in 2022 were CON 6, LAB 19, IND 12, PC 8, GRN 2, LD 1. This gives us an overall change of CON -10, LAB +6, IND +4, PC -1, GRN +2, LD No change.

I can only guess that there must have been lots of defections and the media outlets are not comparing the results against the previous elections, but against the colour of the sitting councillors immediately prior to the 2022 election. Sionk (talk) 15:40, 14 August 2022 (UTC)[reply]
