Rounds

[edit]

@Lugnuts: Does it make sense to split the round-robin fixtures into "Rounds" in this edition? Just that teams sometimes play more than once in a "round" or not at all, so it seems somewhat arbitrary as to which games count as a certain round. On 14 March, there is one game two games in different rounds, simply in order to split into sets of 4. I would prefer a single list of fixtures here. What do you think? Bs1jac (talk) 14:36, 6 January 2022 (UTC)[reply]

@Bs1jac: - Yes, I remember spotting that some teams play twice in x round (SA in round 3, for example). I just mirrored the layout from the previous tournament TBH. Having smaller sections helps with editing, but I'm happy if you want to ditch the round headings. Or maybe wait until all those matches have been played, then get rid of the headings? Would that work? Lugnuts Fire Walk with Me 14:50, 6 January 2022 (UTC)[reply]
@Lugnuts: Not especially concerned either way, and yes it does make it is easier to edit. But I do think that the arbitrary grouping of 4 games is a bit odd. Happy to leave it for now and then maybe revisit after the round-robin stage as you suggested. Bs1jac (talk) 14:54, 6 January 2022 (UTC)[reply]
@Lugnuts: should we use weeks instead of rounds— Preceding unsigned comment added by Saha86830 (talkcontribs)
I would say no to weeks, as multiple rounds were played on the same week. Joseph2302 (talk) 08:50, 9 May 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Yes, agree with Joseph. Thanks. Lugnuts Fire Walk with Me 09:06, 9 May 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Venue confusion

[edit]

About the venue of the warm-up match between England and South Africa- ESPNcricinfo and CricketArchive state it to be Rangiora, while the ICC website and Cricbuzz are showing it as Lincoln. Any way to know which ones are the correct ones in this case? Mashfi23 (talk) 08:09, 2 March 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Well according to the BBC and the PCB, BOTH matches on 2 March took place in Lincoln! Stick with the CI scorecard unless something else crops up. Lugnuts Fire Walk with Me 11:40, 2 March 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Both matches might very well have been played in Lincoln since there are two venues there. The Lincoln sources for England-SA give the venue as the Bert Sutcliffe Oval, while the Pakistan-Bangladesh match was in Lincoln Green according to all sources (although the venues are situated next to each other). But the ESPNcricinfo scorecard will do for now, I guess. Thank you for responding. Mashfi23 (talk) 12:44, 2 March 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Ahh, the old two venues in the same town trick! I should have known! Lugnuts Fire Walk with Me 13:31, 2 March 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Should we include how many balls left on match results?

[edit]

Hi, I see that ESPNcricinfo includes that information, and I think that the information it is important. What do you guys think? e.g. In the Sth Africa-NZL match, that would mean putting (3 balls remaining) in the match result JSBachGFHandel (talk) 08:04, 17 March 2022 (UTC)[reply]

I think that wasn't important to indicate. Listen from Lugnuts, Bs1jac, and A Simple Human, as what they think about this. Thank you! Fade258 (talk) 08:30, 17 March 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Not needed, we don't do it for any other cricket articles, so no need to add extra, not very useful information here. If someone wants to know the number of balls remaining, they can check the scorecard source for it, or calculate it themselves. Joseph2302 (talk) 09:07, 17 March 2022 (UTC)[reply]
^^What Joseph said. It's not needed. Lugnuts Fire Walk with Me 10:24, 17 March 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Okay, thank you all for your advice. JSBachGFHandel (talk) 21:39, 17 March 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Qualification

[edit]

Hi Lugnuts, If Australia are qualified for the semi-finals then which team is eliminated. Who know that team name? Fade258 (talk) 08:57, 21 March 2022 (UTC)[reply]

No teams are currently eliminated, as it's possible for any of the other 7 teams to reach the top 4 if they win their remaining matches. Joseph2302 (talk) 09:08, 21 March 2022 (UTC)[reply]
^^^ What Joseph said. And even more tight following Pakistan's win today. Everything still to play for! Lugnuts Fire Walk with Me 11:43, 21 March 2022 (UTC)[reply]
@Fade258: - Cricinfo wrote this article before the WI/PAK match with all the possible outcomes. Makes for some interesting reading, esp. for the West Indies! Lugnuts Fire Walk with Me 13:40, 21 March 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Opening ceremony

[edit]

There should be a section for opening ceremony Saha86830 (talk) 08:41, 9 May 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Ok but atleast tell about it somewere in the article. And how do you say that there was'nt any coverage. It was broadcasted live on tv. And i am sure that there will sources covering this thing. Afterall this a so importent thing to any tournament

Closing ceremony

[edit]

There should be section for closing ceremony Saha86830 (talk) 08:42, 9 May 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Opening paragraph

[edit]

@Mpk662: a readar should be able know the tournament's details in summery meaning that a first time watcher of the tournament need to know frequency, format etc. Of the tournament so how this is not neededSaha86830 (talk) 09:10, 9 May 2022 (UTC)[reply]

To me, it just doesn't flow well when added like that to the opening sentences, and most of that info is on the Women's Cricket World Cup page and in the infobox, so the information is there for a reader who wants to know more on those details. Sorry, should have added an edit description! Mpk662 (talk) 10:04, 9 May 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Broadcasting

[edit]

There should be a section about broadcasting Saha86830 (talk) 09:52, 9 May 2022 (UTC)[reply]

If you have reliable sources and content to add under this section, then you can add those section. In my opinion. Thanks! Fade258 (talk) 09:56, 9 May 2022 (UTC)[reply]
I would say no to this- we are not a television directory. I know lots of fans like adding broadcasting details, but it's not interesting information to most casual readers (and is generally all sourced to an ICC press release, rather than independent sources). Joseph2302 (talk) 10:14, 9 May 2022 (UTC)[reply]
@Joseph2302, By considering your comment above then we need to remove boardcast details from 2017 women's world cup page. Fade258 (talk) 10:18, 9 May 2022 (UTC)[reply]
