Knock-out stage opponents dubious

Based on what reference was Knock-out stage bracket formed? It's different than in previous WFC's. I doubt that the format has changed. And it makes little sense that in quarterfinals the 3rd team in a group would play against the 1st team from the other group (and 2nd against 4th). Normally the 1st play against the 4th (and the 2nd against the 3rd). Similarly in semifinals, the winner of QF on 1st teams play against the 2nd team from the other group. Not the 1st against the 1st. It all seems made up to me. After all, there's no reference. Prikryl (talk) 20:01, 6 April 2024 (UTC)
