Plot too long

[edit]

The plot is too long and too detailed. The plot should be a short summary, not a long detailed brouhaha as is in the article right now. --Killeroid 04:25, 2 March 2008 (UTC)

agreed. editing.

I am doing a group project for my English class.

We(Nrhines, rldecosi, and Dpatterson31) will be refining and editing this page. According to our review of Wikipedia film pages and Wikiproject film, the plot is too long and detailed so we will rewrite it to make it more concise. The characters need a short description, and also a few characters are missing. This page is missing a soundtrack/music section so we will add this to the article. Hopefully this project will improve this Wikipedia film page. Any feedback or advice is appreciated :/ --Nrhines, Rldecosi (talk) 20:08, 19 November 2009 (UTC) 19:21, 17 November 2009 (UTC)[reply]

The plot summary remains much too long for a very lightweight and inconsequential film which wasn't even well received on release. --Ef80 (talk) 18:53, 12 October 2020 (UTC)[reply]
The quality of the film and the length of the plot section are two separate matters. (Treat yourself to pink fluff but we do not need to pretend it is a healthy meal.) Even heavyweight or consequential films should have a concise plot summary (see WP:FILMPLOT). The plot section is again far too long, considerably more than the recommended 400-700 words and even longer than it was in has been for a long time, it is currently close to 1000 words. It needs a substantial trim yet again. [1] There have been too many recent edits to allow easy reverting of recent bloat[2], but perhaps someone can look through the edit history and revert to an older more concise version without reintroducing too many old flaws. -- 109.76.203.12 (talk) 01:55, 12 March 2022 (UTC)[reply]
I reviewed the page history and found back in 2014 that the plot summary was under 700 words. I reverted it to that version. Erik (talk | contrib) (ping me) 03:14, 12 March 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Definitely an improvement, thanks for that. I'm guessing the cast name in the plot section was not intentional? You can revert my delete if it was. -- 109.76.146.58 (talk) 06:00, 12 March 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks for doing that! I was tired when I replaced the summary and thought I deleted all of these instances. You caught the last one. Cheers! If you have any film-related questions, WT:FILM is a good talk page to go to. Erik (talk | contrib) (ping me) 16:35, 12 March 2022 (UTC)[reply]
I was already tired when I complained about the plot length, so I understand of course. The comment was intended to do a few things, primarily to serve as as a reminder to myself (I might fix it eventually, I've come back to old comments many years later and found them very useful), and in part as a note to other editors that that an overlong plot section remains a recurring problem. Thanks again for reverting to a more concise version of the plot section, I hoped for but had no expectation of such a prompt response. Thanks. -- 109.76.146.58 (talk) 17:26, 12 March 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Oh, gosh, that "Headlines" section was by me all these years ago! Glad that was useful for you. :) Erik (talk | contrib) (ping me) 18:11, 12 March 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Reese Witherspoon

[edit]

Someone keeps adding her to the list of cast members. She is not credited in the film or on IMDB or any other source as being in the film. If she is in the movie, please provide a reliable source. Afheather (talk) 14:21, 4 May 2022 (UTC)[reply]
