Copyvio?[edit]

This article appears to have been taken directly from here. I'm not sure if this is a public domain source or not (not being from the US, I'm not up on US copyright law). Can anyone confirm or deny? If it is a copyright violation this page needs to be completely re-written or deleted. — AustralianRupert (talk) 08:26, 8 December 2009 (UTC)[reply]

I don't think this really breaches copyright. The text is a copy, but the site it's copying from is an official US Military website (note the .mil domain name). This means that the text is considered a formal unit war diary (albeit a truncated one). This information, if not Classified (Which it obviously is not if it's on the web), is Public Domain material, and thus would not come under copyright. As a result, I would say it can be kep without any issues. Cheers, Xlh 134.115.72.198 (talk) 02:01, 14 January 2010 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks for the response. Based on what others have said elsewhere, I believe you are correct. Cheers. — AustralianRupert (talk) 07:42, 14 January 2010 (UTC)[reply]

New Content[edit]

Looks like someone went and updated some info from the 2006 - 2007 deployment, but there are no real references. It also has some incorrect and missing information. For instance:

C Co was not complete, but split into two sections at first, and then three after the extension.
D Co and HHC are not mentioned at all.
Nothing about the extension is mentioned.

There is also little information on any of the other 3 deployments. I know our first deployment is mostly classified still, but the other 2 were very publicized with reporters / writers directly imbedded with the companies. There was a book written about the 2009 deployment, but it was very poorly written and I have only seen it at the old "Borders" in Watertown NY (Just outside of Fort Drum, the store is now closed). Oh, and the only reason I don't fix this myself is I lack the actual references. If I can find them, I'll be sure to add them on there. Are there any objections to me adding a fallen Soldiers Roster? SGT Justin Gregory Blodgett, US Army Infantryman (talk) 14:36, 15 January 2013 (UTC)[reply]
