Hoax?[edit]

After (attempting to) research this article, I came across a realization: there is a SINGLE AVAILABLE MENTION! There is, indeed, a 30th Colored Infantry Regiment and a 29th Connecticut Infantry Regiment, but not a regiment under this specific name. That is not a hoax, just one of many civil war regiments that, for one reason or another, was quickly discontinued and merged into another. Happened with countless units that did not attract enough recruits. Two months after beginning organization its four established companies were merged into the just organizing 31st USCT and thus there is precious little to write about. There still are many more mentions than just one though. ...GELongstreet (talk) 08:55, 13 October 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Ah, I am not as well-versed in the origin of the divisions as the produced division itself. However, unfortunately I must bring up: should I propose these articles to be merged into the main article? Due to the lack of sources, short length, and because I don't think articles are going to come out about regiments that lasted less than 6 months. Also, if you do believe there are sources available, please point me to them and I would be glad to improve the article. As for the hoax part, I brought that into the equation because of the perfect storm of being written by a user with a questionable reputation: 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7. I apologize for the mix-up, Nobody expects the UnexpectedSmoreInquisition (talk)! 11:16, 13 October 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Some primary sources with precious little information would be e.g. 1, 2 3, 4 or 5. What little info there is would be hard to find (specifially online), considering the extremely short timeframe of existence and the limited preserved records and focus on colored troops. A secondary echoing the info would be e.g. over here. Merge into 31st USCT (whose article is short on sources itself) seems logical. ...GELongstreet (talk) 14:00, 14 October 2023 (UTC)[reply]
I'll put a merge tag, but I would also like to note the extreme variations of names for the early colored regiments, which made this hard to cite. Thank you for assisting, Nobody expects the UnexpectedSmoreInquisition (talk)! 16:14, 14 October 2023 (UTC)[reply]
