Public Domain

[edit]

It is pretty clear that Sections 2.8 through 2.11 (Lineage, Assignments, Components and Bases assigned) is originally sourced to [1], which puts that material in the public domain. That material is also footnoted to three works published by the Office of Air Force History, also in the public domain (although those sources will not support all material in this section)

The Separate paragraph of Section 2 (History)

The following sections are originally sourced to [2], which is also material in the public domain.

The first two sentences of the first paragraph of Section 2.5 (Desert Storm)

The first two sentences of the first paragraph of Section 2.6 (Modern era [sic])

The first paragraph of Section 2.7 (Global War on Terrorism)

The information in the infobox is also not subject to copyvio. --Lineagegeek (talk) 19:01, 30 May 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Yes, most of the problem text Bwmoll3 inserted was in the various extra history sections (for all these wings). What I intend to do is, should there be no challenges at the copyvio-day page, is to delete the whole article, to remove the dubious areas, then bring back a 'clean' version including much of the sections you hi-light above. Please make sure, for any of Sections 2.5, 2.6, and 2.7, that a proper footnote is inserted linking them to a PD page where similar text can be verified. Unless anyone else deletes these first, I'll wait another two weeks, and then delete 4th FW, and then give you some more time for 63, 66, and 67 Wings. How does that sound? Sounds good, but how does one insert footnotes into text when the article is just the copyvio notice? --Lineagegeek (talk) 21:18, 1 June 2016 (UTC)[reply]
Hi @Lineagegeek:, designated rewrite page, as per the copyvio-day page, is Talk:4th Fighter Wing/Temp. Please feel free to use that as a sandbox, drawing the text where it remains accessible via the article history. Buckshot06 (talk) 00:35, 3 June 2016 (UTC)[reply]
