Corrections to 59th Ordnance Brigade[edit]

What does this mean. Special Ammunition Support Command (SASCOM) was just SASCOM, and was not designated as a Unit Size of Company, Battalion, nor Bridage. After being renamed Special Ammunition Brigade, the term Special Ammunition Support Command (SASCOM) was completely dropped for Operational Security (OPSEC) Reasons (eventhough most of the older Germans knew) as Ordnance Units could no longer use the Terms "Special", "Special Munitions", "Special Ammunition", "Nuclear Weapons", "Nuclear", "Chemical Munitions", "Chemical", etc. especially on Unit Signs (in front of Company HQ, Battalion HQ, Brigade Headquarters), Documents that were not Classified, etc. after becoming the 59th Ordnance Brigade. Just to let you know (I was with the 59th Ordnance Brigade), First as a Nuclear Weapons Storage and Issue Platoon Leader with the 64th Ordnance Company (197th Ordnance Battalion), Storage, Security and Transportation of Nuclear Weapons (Courier Officer, Helicopters) additonal Duty of SANRAS (Nuclear Control Orders). Later the Maintenance and Assembly (of Nuclear Weapons) Platoon Leader and Shop Officer. Later was on the Staff of 59th Ordnance Brigade Special Nuclear and Chemical Weapons Security Initative (Weapons Access Delay System (WADS)required to go to all 59th Ordnance Brigade Locations as well as SETAF locations), Branch Chief, Worldwide Ammunition Reporting System (WARS, for Nuclear Weapons, Chemical Weapons and Conventional Ammunition), TS (Top Secret) Classified Document Word Processing, EMAS (Nuclear and Chemical Control Orders)for EUCOM and JCS, Security Clearance Officer (Military Intelligence Officer), Tactical and Strategic Analysis (Military Intelligence Officer), VIP Protection (General Officer, Congressional and Presidential Visits), Counter Terrorist Initatives. After the US Military Officer's Advanced Course assigned to the 9th Ordnance Company.
The 9th Ordnance Company (Theater Support) was part of the 3rd Ordnance Battalion (Theater Support) previously name the Special Troops Battalion, then renamed the Theater Support Battalion, after deactivation of the 3rd Ordnance Battalion the name was taken and a new 3rd Ordnance Battalion was reactivated at Husterhoh Kaserne, Pirmasens Germany (I was at the ceremony).
You left a whole Ordnance Battalion out that was actually the size of an regular Military Brigade (3,000 - 5,000 Officers, NCOs, Enlisted).
The 3rd Ordnance Battalion consisted of:
1. Headquarters 3rd Ordnance Battalion located at Husterhoh Kaserne, Pirmasens Germany (right across the street (literally) from the Headquarters 59th Ordnance Brigade). As the Special Troops Battalion (previous name) and the Theater Support Battalion (TSB)(previous name) they were located before at the other end of Husterhoh Kaserne near the landromat across from the 22nd Aviation Detachment and Husterhoh Kaserne Airfield. They moved across the street from the 59th Ordnance Brigade and were then renamed the 3rd Ordnance Battalion.
2. the 9th Ordnance Company (Theater Support of Nuclear Weapons) Location Miesau Depot (Operational Control of:
a. the 164th Military Police Company (Physical Security, 4 each Officer, NCO, Enlisted, Platoons of 100, Rotational duties, 1 Fly Away Platoon (Guard Force for Helicopter Transportation "Air Mission" Security on the ground, 360 degrees) 3 Platoons rotated to Security 9th Ordnance Company's Nuclear Weapons Storage Site), and 1 Platoon on Standby as a Backup Alert Force (BAF) to reinforce the Platoon performing 9th Ordnance Company Nuclear Weapons Site Security. Location right across the street from the 9th Ordnance Company Headquarters (Administrative) at Miesau Depot.
b. the 189th Heavy Transportation Company (Heavy Vehicle Transportation of Nuclear Weapons, 298 Officers, NCOs, Enlisted at Kleiber Kaserne, Kaiserlautern, Germany) ,
c. the 295th Aviation ("Medium Lift", Coleman Barracks, Mannheim, Germany, CH-47C transport of Nuclear Weapons, same organization that crashed on the autobahn supporting international parachutists a few days after we transported nuclear weapons on that CH-47),
d. the 22nd Aviation Detachment (Air Mission Command and Control Helicopters, UH-1s) location Husterhoh Kaserne, Pirmasens Germany ,
e. the USAF Security Police (Hot pads, Security during Transloading Operations from CH-47s to C-141s at Ramstein AFB, Hahn AFB, as well as 9th Ordnance Company deployment of USAF GLCM, England)
f. rarely mentioned (credited) was one Company of Infantry rotated from the Infantry Battalions at USAREUR to provide Emergency Response to the 9th Ordnance Company Nuclear Weapons Storage Site. They were located on Miesau Depot during their rotation.
to say that the 9th Ordnance Company was a "Company" was an inside joke (as we were the size of a Conventional US Military Unit Brigade with our attached Units (3,000), I was the one that had to do the USR (Unit Status Report) so I know the numbers, and the Readiness Status including the operational controlled units.). at that time it was also a matter of Operational Security (size of Units) that everyone would think the 9th Ordnance Company was just another Ordnance Company (Wheeled Vehicle Maintenance or Conventional Munitions). The size of the 9th Ordnance Company alone was 411-500 Officers (8 each), Warrant Officers (11 each), Senior NCOs(41), NCOs (50-55), Enlisted (290-300), the size of a regular US Military Battalion, including having the equivelants of a Battalion Staff, Personnel (S-1), Operations (S-3), Supply (S-4), etc.. With the "Administrative" Headquarters located on the Depot with the other Tennant Units, and the "Operational" (aka Mission) Headquarters located inside the Depot beyond the normal access areas as "Behind the Fence" and the actual Nuclear Weapons Storage Site located inside the Depot the inside Depot Secure Area of the inside of the Fences (three layers of security) of the actual Nuclear Weapons Storage Facility as Guarded by the 164th Military Police Company including a Fortified and Armored Site Security Control Center (SSCC).
3. The 330th Ordnance Company (Theater Support of Chemical Weapons, Site 59, Clausen Germany, Administrative Location: Munchweiler an der Rodalb, Germany, same base as 197th Ordnance Battalion Headquarters)(Operational Control of:
a. the 110th Military Police Company (Physical Security, of 330th Ordnance Company's chemical Weapons Site at Site 59, Clausen, Germany).
b. the 763rd Medical Detachment (Medical Support for Chemical Weapons Blood Baseline sampling and testing, and Chemical Weapons exposure beyond the training of conventional medical facilities like LARMC (Landstuhl Army Regional Medical Center, Doctors and Medical Staff Specifically Trained to treat Chemical Weapons Exposure (all types, GB, VX, etc.), as Chemical Weapons Exposure misdiagnosed as something else, location Muenchweiler, Germany, Staffed a Special Clinic (actually part of the Muncheweiler Army Hospital).
c. the 98th Chemical Detachment (F B Decon, Decontamination and Emergency Support).
the 330th Ordnance Company was derived from the 636th Ordnance Company (EOD), when the 636th Ordnance Company was deactivated the Ordnance Personnel became the 330th Ordnance Company, the Military Police of the 636th became the 110th Military Police Company.
4. The 41st Ordnance Company (Conventional Munitions, when I was on the 59th Ordnance Brigade Staff doing the WARS Report including the Conventional Weapons (Ammunition)) the 41st Ordnance Company was split into numerous detachments:
a. HHC, 41st Ordnance Company (Miesau Depot, largest US Military Depot outside the US), located next to the Baseball Field.
b. 41st Ordnance Company (Actual Company, Rhine Ordnance Barracks, Kaiserslautern, Germany).
c. 41st Ordance Company (Detachment, Fischbach Army Depot, Germany, they were a tennent unit with the 64th Ordnance Company (when I was there as a Platoon Leader. The Commander of the 64th Ordnance Company was the Depot Commander (the Depot even had a small Commissary/PX, Barbershop, Bowling Alley, Theater, Stars and Stripes Bookstore, etc.). They were responsible for the Lance Missile Motor Maintenance at the time. The Germans mistook this to be Giftgasse (Chemical Weapons), as the Lance Missile Motors contained Red Fuming Nitric Acid).
Eventhough the 59th Ordnance Brigade had the most Units at Miesau Installation Army Depot (MIAD), as Headquarters 72nd Ordnance Battalion, HHC 72nd Ordnance Battalion, 9th Ordnance Company (also incharge of the Consolidated Dining Facility), 164th Military Police Company, Headquarters 41st Ordnance Company, etc.. MIAD still came under the 21st Support Command; not the 59th Ordnance Brigade (Theater Support).
The proper title for the Headquarters and Headquarters Company, 59th Ordnance Ammunition Group, Was Headquarters and Headquarters Company, 59th Ordnance Brigade (location: Husterhöh-Kaserne, Pirmasens, Germany).
there was no such thing as
US Army Privatization of Army Lodging Detachment, Husterhöh-Kaserne, Pirmasens
There was the US Army Permissive Action Link (PAL) Detachment (Nuclear Weapons), Husterhöh-Kaserne, Pirmasens, Germany. Located in the attic of the 59th Ordnance Brigade Headquarters Building.
The 165th Signal Company was under the HHC 59th Ordnance Brigade to provide EMAS (Presidential Nuclear and Chemical Control Orders) Secure Communications between 59th Ordnance Brigade, US EUCOM (SACEUR), JCS, 56th Field Artillery Brigade (Pershing I, and Pershing II) and 59th Ordnance Brigade subordinate Units.
The 41st Ordnance Company was actually part of the 3rd Ordnance Battalion, not directly under the HHC 59th Ordnance Brigade. As mentioned above.
The 72nd Ordnance Battalion (location Miesau Depot, Germany) consisted of the:
1. HHC 72nd Ordnance Battalion (location Miesau Depot, Germany),
2. The 545th Ordnance Company (location Muenster-Dieburg, Germany).
a.6th Military Police Company (Physical Security, location Muenster-Dieburg, Germany).
3. The 619th Ordnance Company (location Kriegsfeld, Germany).
a. 558th MP Company Military Police Company (Physical Security, location Kriegsfeld, Germany)
Many of the very remotely located 59th Ordnance Brigade Ordnance Companies even had their own Fire Department (example the 64th Ordnance Company, at Fischbach, Germany, had their own Fire Truck, which was unfortunely at one time used to keep German Demonstrators off the Depot Main Gates and Fences).
The Military Police Companies were usually under the Operational Control of the Ordnance Companies. And usually also had Sentry and Guard Dogs with Handlers.
Most of the Ordnance Companies also had their own Heavy Transportation assets, example: As a Nuclear Weapons Storage and Issue Platoon Leader at the 64th Ordnance Company, Fischbach bei Dahn, Germany, I had 18 Tractors and 24 Trailers (like commercial Mack or International Tractors that haul 40 foot containers), the Heavy Vehicle Drivers and the Ammunition Storage and Issue Specialists. In many cases there were also the Heavy Lift Material Handling Equipment and Transportation Assets, like 6,000 pound, 10,000 pound and higher "Fork Lifts" with transportation trailers. Once again these Nuclear or Chemical Weapons Ordnance Companies were not like any other US Military Units as a "Zero Defects, Zero Mistakes" environment (for obvious reasons).
3rd Ordnance Battalion[edit]
One of the issues is how this article is organized. The table format does not work, as it presumes a static formation. The 3rd Ord Bn has a history well outside the 59th Ord Bde. It is now active as the 3rd Explosive Ordnance Battalion; I will started a draft article soon.
My main interest is in the Pershing units. If you look at the four I added under the Units section, I think it is a better way to present the various companies. My Involvements with the 3rd Ordnance Battalion, 59th Ordnance Brigade, 56th Field Artillery Brigade (Pershing 1s (P-1s) and 2s (P-2s)).
When I received my Selective Service Notification (Drafted) Vietnam I entered as Field Artillery (13B)then became a 18 U.S. Army Special Forces/11PV Airborne Ranger(Long Range Reconaissance Patrol and Airborne Ranger), later on I reentered the U.S. Military as Ordnance Corps (90/91 Wheeled and Tracked Vehicle Maintenance Officer, further Career Field Training 75A+EOD Conventional Munitions, 73A Missiles, 75C Nuclear, Chemical (Chemical Corps was then part of the Ordnance Corps), 60 series Biological.
As a former Field Artillery ("Once a Red Leg, Always a Red Leg") after being a Course Writer/Instructor at the Ordnance Corps Missile and Munitions Center And School (MMC&S)(I got involved with NASA, BRL and HEL (High Energy Lab)while there), I was assigned to the 59th Ordnance Brigade, I had an interest in the 56th Field Artillery Brigade; as when I first arrived I was given the mission of a Nuclear Weapons Count (Stockpile Verification) while still living at a German Gasthaus.
The Federal Republic of West Germany was not alien to me, as I had graduated from Gymnasium (High School) at Germany before being Drafted. I travelled all over Germany to do the Stockpile Verifications, including to 56th Field Artillery Brigade (Pershing 1 at the time, we would later on replace the Pershing ("P-1s") 1s with Pershing 2s ("P-2s") doing many Air Missions (I was later on a Courier Officer, and after that the Senior Courier Officer including during the Retrogrades from Europe on U.S. Air Force Special Air Missions (SAMs).
When the Iran Iraq Wars (the Largest Conventional War of History) started and the Russians invaded Afghanistan, having Combat Experience while most did not (even U.S. Army Special Forces), I got involved with the U.S. Military Training Teams Iraq and ended up in Command of an Iraqis Combat Brigade (larger than a U.S. Army Division), and later on the U.S. Military Assistance Teams Pakistan/Afghanistan of CIA Operation Cyclone and ended up leading our 1980s Pro U.S. Afghan Muhajeen.
Much later on a part of the Brigade Staff as the Special Projects Manager/Officer, almost a $Billion Classified Project, I got to go TDY/TDA to almost every 59th Ordnance Brigade and 56th Field Artillery Brigade location, including those supported by the 59th Ordnance Brigade like the 10th Special Forces Group; Italy, Turkey, etc. of SETAF; the German Military; the U.S. Army Field Artillery Locations (8 inch nuclear projectiles); I got involved with Site 59 Clausen (Chemical Weapons) of the 330th Ordnance Company and the 110th MP Company.
I would later on watch the Reactivation of the 3rd Ordnance Battalion across the street from the 59th Ordnance Brigade Headquarters from my Office of Branch AEUSA-MN that I created, as having had previous involvement with the Special Troops Battalion, renamed the Theater Support Battalion (TSB) that later became the 3rd Ordnance Battalion that had Command and Control of the 330th Ordnance Company and the 110th MP Company (and the Special Medical Detachment at Muenchweiller and CAIRA (Chemical Accident and Incident Response and Assistance Teams)Detachment. I was assigned as an 59th Ordnance Brigade Officer to S.H.A.P.E. Belgium for War Excercises.
I then went Stateside got my Masters Degree while attending my Advanced Officer's Course. I became the Branch Chief of the Course Writers/Instructors of the Special Ammunition Division (SAD) of the School.
Much later on I was assigned to the 9th Ordnance Company to fix a problem of the 9th Ordnance Company repeatedly failing the NWTIs, with the 64th Ordnance Company then having to do the 9th Ordnance Company Theater Support Missions (like when I was assigned to the 64th Ordnance Company before, the 9th Ordnance Company had failed their NWTIs before) until the 9th Ordnance Company could get Recertified (pass their NWTIs). I had to be a hardass with the Chief Warrant Officers as they had become complacent or continued to make mistakes, I had previously been the Maintenance and Assembly Platoon Leader/Shop Officer at the 64th Ord when the 9th Ord had previously failed the NWTI (and we had passed ours while doing the 9th Ord Mission as well as the 64th's Mission). Many of the 9th's Warrant Officers started complaining to the 3rd Ordnance Battalion Commander, that I was giving them Career Threatning OERs (I had previously given them draft warning OERs, as critising them for spending too much time at the Miesau Army Depot (renamed from MAD to MIAD) Snack Bar and the time it took driving to and from the site to the Admin Area to go to the Snack Bar; instead of training to pass the NWTI as having their meals delivered by the Dining Facility (that I was the Dining Facility Officer of) like as delivered for the MPs at the SSCC).
Note: Prior to Warrant Officers becoming Commissioned Officers you could never zap them for Leadership; the earlier (older, before becoming Commissioned Officers) Warrant Officers gave my Warrant Officer misinformation and if my Warrant Officers would have bothered to G-2 me (got personal information about me) they would have known that my Father was a CW-4 (at that time the highest Warrant Officer Grade/Rank before the creation of CW-5, this got me in lots of trouble after I got Drafted as everyone expected me to know and do more than the other Recruits, Trainees, Draftees, but I was a Rebel when I was a Dependent, what helped was High School ROTC, especially when I was dumped into Leadership Positions automatically by the Chain of Command); that I was prior Service Enlisted, NCO, just like they had been before WOC School (except that I had been in Combat Arms and not Combat Support nor CSS like most of them were, I knew from my G-2 of them), and that I was their Instructor/Course Writer during Schools, I was Technically Certified on most of the Systems (Weapons) as well as Calibrations; originally due to Technical Expertise, I was supposed to be assigned to the 59th Ordnance Brigade Surety, the people that did the BSE (Brigade Surety Evaluation including Technical Inspections before the NWTI); but, the Higher Priority was the almost $Billion Special Project of SECDEF, JCS, PM Nuc.
One of my critisms of the 56th Field Artillery Brigade (Pershing) Units was that they would wash the Pershing Missiles on the Launchers with Fire Hoses; the high pressure would force water between the Warhead Section and the Missile Section; when we picked up (Air Mission) Pershing Warhead Sections already in the oontainer for Maintenance, when we opened the container in the Maintenance and Assembly Building the bottom of the container would be full of water, causing the inside of the container to be rusted, so we would have to do the extra work of getting the water out of the Warhead (treated as nuclear contaminated water), container, then having to do "body and fender" work on the containers (same thing happened before at the 64th Ordnance Company); the other thing the 56th Field Artillery Brigade would do to make the Pershings look nice was car wax (classified reason why you do not do that, wax the missile, especially the warhead section).
If was from extensive Firsthand Experience that I edited that chart listing the Units of the 59th Ordnance Brigade. I was there when they redesigned the Shoulder Patch, of which we laughed, as instead of crossed Cannons of the Field Artillery (56th Field Artillery, and other Nuclear Projectile Field Artillery) that we supported, and a Lit Fuse of a Bomb (grenade or explosive cannon munition) for the Ordnance Corps, the patch ended up looking like an upside down pervert patch (person bent over looking between their legs, or head up butt, or doing oral sex on their self), I knew the 59th Ordnance Brigade Civilian Graphics Artist; I would have really liked to continue to wear the United States Army Europe (USAREUR) Patch of the Flaming Sword like when I first was assigned to the 64th Ordnance Company (Fischbach) of the 197th Ordnance Battalion (Muenchweiller) of the 59th Ordnance Brigade (Pirmasens); as also having been previously assigned to ACS S&I, Security and Intelligence, I knew that wearing a distinct patch of Special Ammunition made everyone targets for USSR Spetsnaz Operatives and KGB Agents (and other Secret Agents of the WARSAW Pact Nations) at the Federal Republic of West Germany (this became a fact with the incident involving a East German Intelligence Agency Agent infiltrating a German Military Unit involved with U.S. Nuclear Weapons thru a U.S. Military Nuclear Weapons Custodial Unit (that no one knew of, as believed to be just another of many USAREUR Units (could have been anything including Supply, Transportation, Personnel Management, etc., until the shoulder patch change)).
None of the above nor my Resumes is/are Classified as Presidential Executive Order 13526, "Sec. 1.5. Duration of Classification. Psst. Personal Firsthand Experience is more factual than any sources that were written based on rumors or gossip that was then gathered and used to write something, with the writer never having been there or involved. You say you were "I was alsoi in 3rd Ord a long time ago" prove that, with information (Facts) that only those assigned to the 3rd Ordnance Battalion would know; example what Section(s) of the 3rd Ordnance Battalion were literally in the Basement.
Of course Now you say that, as previously implying that "I was also in 3rd Ord a long time ago" as having been ASSIGNED AND SERVED with the 3rd Ordnance Battalion. Basically, why are you even reading or wasting everyone's time with your disrespectful comments. AND THE "Please read WP:RS pertains to THE ARTICLE NOT THE TALK SECTION, again attempting to justify your ignorance of FACTS. As the identical type of Ignorance of Wikipedia as to WHY, Wikipedia must State "WIKIPEDIA MAKES NO GUARANTEE OF VALIDITY" as You and Wikipedia NOT allowing the Verifications, Authenications, Validity, from Firsthand Experience and therefore must state, "Please be advised that nothing found here has necessarily been reviewed by people with the expertise required to provide you with complete, accurate or reliable information."

My previous assignments to the 59th Ordnance Brigade were with the AEUSA S&I (Security & Intelligence), Special Projects Manager/Officer, Military Intelligence Officer, Strategic and Tactical Intelligence, Counter Terrorism (training,coordination/cooperation with the German Special Warfare Counter Terrorist Units, especially after the General Dozier Kidnapping), Counter Intelligence, Brigade Security Clearance Officer (I had complete access to all Personal Records, including U.S. DOD Civilians working with the 59th Ordnance Brigade including Restricted Personnel Records), Delegated Security Classification Authority, Officer In Charge of VIP Security (Presidential (like Vice President H.W. Bush visit), Congressional, General Officers) and the HQ "Palace Guards", etc. as more of a Military Police Officer or Military Intelligence Officer Position not an Ordnance Officer Position; AEUSA-S&I was the Eyes and Ears for the Entire 59th Ordnance Brigade at 38 locations plus the Netherlands and the Pirmasens Community (as the Commander of the 59th Ordnance Brigade was the Pirmasens Community Commander also. My additional Duty while assigned to the AEUSA S&I because I was an Ordnance Officer was EMAS as the Nuclear and Chemical Weapons Control Orders; with the EMAS Officers also being like the Staff Duty Officer for the Entire Pirmasens Community.
I was glad when the decision was made to move me and the Special Project to AEUSA-M (Nuclear Ordnance the core of the entire Mission of the 59th Ordnance Brigade including Secure Movements), I then created my own Branch of AEUSA-MN (Munitions Nuclear, Special Projects) that would later become a starting as a GS-12/13 position Branch Chief; I still had to do EMAS, and added WARS Report for the Entire Brigade; no more Intelligence Officer Activities that became a "when completed" or "activities ceased" job, not a 7:00 A.M. to 5:00 P.M. desk job. Nor the very painful VIP Security (coordinations with everyone, including the time differences between U.S., Germany, the rest of Europe, Middle East, etc.). I also ended up as the Brigade's Classified Automation Officer, as to how I ended up typing up the Commander 59th Ordnance Brigade's Classified OER, ended up getting more multi drawer safes to store all the up to Top Secret 1.5 foot Disk Packs of the Secure Wang Word Processor.

That includes the expertise to conduct an Article 32 Investigation into the Accident/Incident January 1985 of the 56th Field Artillery Brigade, Pershing 2, C Battery, 3rd Battalion, 84th Field Artillery, 56th Field Artillery Brigade that killed 3 U.S. Military. As the Commanders of the 56th Field Artillery Brigade were too close (Conflict of Interests; admitting that they or a subordinate Unit that they are responsible for did something wrong would kill their U.S. Military Career); the Commanders of the Ordnance Missile Maintenance too close (Conflict of Interest), including the 3rd Ordnance Battalion; the 59th Ordnance Brigade Branch AEUSA-MM (Missiles and Missile Maintenance) too close (Conflict of Interest); so as Delegated by the Chief of AEUSA-M (Material), I as also Formally Qualified thru Formal Schooling and Training also as a SSI 73A (Career Field of Missiles including Missile Maintenance)(and Career Field 75C Nuclear Weapons including Technical Certifications (of a Warrant Officer, 260A), as well as having been Field Artillery not being external to the Field Artillery Career Field as an "Outsider") ended up with that Delegated Authority (Initial Article 32 Investigation on behalf of the Commander 59th Ordnance Brigade and Commander USAREUR). My having Graduated from Gymnasium (High School) at Germany, before being Drafted, I knew how to handle the Germans (especially the very adverse German News Media, that were previously demanding all the Nuclear Weapons out of the Federal Republic of West Germany).

I KNOW you did that malicious edit as I would have already KNOWN that the 3rd Ordnance Battalion was later Reassigned to the 59th Ordnance Brigade, NOT the 56th Field Artillery Brigade as 1. I would have not misspelled Brigade, 2.
