Hello @IrishHistorian1! I appreciate your effort to contribute to this page. However you not providing any sources while removing sourced information is really not helping. I ask you to cite your sources when making edits. In particular with the following topics: 1) The ballistic vest system is called Ulej as per several sources, including Kalashnikov journal and service manual. 2) According to the same article in Kalashnikov journal it was indeed used in the Afghan war. 3) There is no information about production after 1998 that I could find. Hello Aleksandr, yes i have 6B5 Vest dated 2004, made in Ukraine, the production did continue after 1998,there is no eye witness acounts, or photographs of 6B5 being used in afghanistan conflict, afghansti that served will verify this, 6B4 body armor vest and 6B3 did see service in this conflict, as of current there is no sources to prove this claim of 6B5 seeing service in the conflict,

please cite the source from Kalashnikov service manual that claim this nickname as i have been unable to find this information elsewhere retaining to the use of this nickname, thank you IrishHistorian1 (talk) 21:07, 17 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]

The information about vest's use in Afghanistan is from Kalashnikov journal I cited in the article. Ulej Is not a nickname, its official name of the vest, as referenced on page 14. And I am afraid hearsay will not work. You will need to provide written sources. F.Alexsandr (talk) 21:50, 17 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Hello Aleksandr, yes i see now the source you mention & it confirms this nickname, although this source is of 2004 and not a soviet source, this name was also not officially decided on by the NII Stali design bureau, soon i will have a look through this Kalashnikov journal and attempt to verify the claim, thank you. Hello Aleksandr, yes after reviewing the sources you cited for Kalashnikov journal, and the manual, you are correct the official name of this vest is "Ulej" i apologize for the confusion and will reinstate it, although there is no mention of 6B5 use in Afghanistan, only the designing of 6B5 for troops in Afghanistan but no accounts of its use, thank you for the information! 3O Response: Additions to the article must be backed by reliable sources. Personal observations could be factually correct, but information must have a reliable source to justify inclusion.
