It was formed in 1981 and its members are selected from other special forces units. Its selection criteria and tests are more strict that other ROK Special Forces. The unit is designed to be the better of the People's Republic of Korea's (North Korea) Special Forces Unit 8.[reply]

History[edit]

Unit 707 was in charge of counter-terrorism for the Seoul Olympics (1988 Summer Olympics).
Unit 707 trained New Korea Total Service mercenaries to provide security in post-US-Iraq War Iraq.
