U.S. Army Combat Arms Regimental System[edit]

"The Combat Arms Regimental System (CARS), was the method of assigning unit designations to units of the five combat arms (Infantry, Field Artillery, Armor, Cavalry, and Air Defense Artillery) of the United States Army from 1957 to 1981. CARS was superseded by the U.S. Army Regimental System (USARS) in 1981."

My edits[edit]

My edits are explained below:

section heading to sentence case per MOS:HEAD
Change to years per MOS:YEAR
Change to "role" because the infobox template suggests role is much more specific than the broad "Combat arms": "typical strategic or tactical use of unit, e.g., shock troop, special operations, mechanized infantry, ceremonial guard, etc." "Anti-aircraft warfare" probably fits here, though one could argue it is redundant given the info in "type".
Change to "type" because the infobox template does not call for the U.S. Army branch but instead "the general type of unit, e.g., cavalry, infantry, artillery, etc. More specific types (airborne infantry, light cavalry, etc.) may be given as appropriate." The two are obviously related but are distinct, hence my minor change.
Period after "Taiwan"-terminal punctuation goes before footnotes per WP:CITEFOOT
Removed unrelated references that have been placed in several ADA or FA unit articles. However, these referenced have no real connection or any mention of the 71st (in some cases having been written before the unit was even founded) and only serve to distract a reader looking for additional relevant info.

My latest edits:
-Where possible, I have replaced self-published sources with "respected mainstream sources" per WP:SOURCE & WP:SELFPUBLISH.
-The cite to olive-drab.com didn't support the statement in the article. It is possible that it was intended merely to provide info on the guns, but this was not clear. Just in case, I provided a wikilink to the section of the article [[M45 Quadmount}} that mentions the M55. If it turns out the olive-drab.com was merely meant to provide background info on the guns, it would be more appropriate to add it to the "external links" section of the M45 Quadmount article.

Organic units section[edit]

Since the composition of the unit has varied over time and also since the names of the organic units have changed over time, it is probably best to clarify either when the various units actually were organic and what their various names were, or create separate "organic units" sections for different points in the unit's history (e.g., WW2, Vietnam, etc.). I have attempted to move forward on the first alternative, but my work is incomplete. Ocalafla (talk) 17:23, 31 May 2014 (UTC)[reply]
