Nickname

[edit]

Nowhere in cricket's sources is A N Hornby called "Monkey Hornby". True, his nickname was "Monkey", just as Ian Botham's is "Beefy". Should we therefore redirect Ian Botham to Beefy Botham? Hornby was always referred to by his initials, just as W G Grace was. And W G Grace was intimately known as Gilly so should we redirect W G Grace to Gilly Grace? I think not.

It is all very well recording nicknames as an additional piece of information to broaden our knowledge of the person's character a little, but to use one in the title of an article is going too far. I am redirecting this to A N Hornby which is how he is known to cricket historians. --Jack 02:52, 22 June 2006 (UTC)[reply]
