A42 Terminus

[edit]

The A42 terminates at a roundabout with the A453. It is separated from the A50 by the A453 to J24 of the M1. The terminus is joined by the northbound exit of the M1 at J23A.

Ths is not accurately reflected in the chart of the article and so I have changed it again - if it helps I can take a photo of this terminus and add it to the article as this part of the road is often confused by people.

Unfortunately you have now removed the northbound exit to the M1 which is why I put it back before. See SK471247. I have restored this again. Regan123 20:29, 9 December 2006 (UTC)[reply]

J23a of the M42 has a SOUTHBOUND entry onto the M1

[edit]

Please note you can access the M1 south at the roundabout of J23a of the M42. I am editing the article again.

I have amended the table. Maps show access off the terminal roundabout north of the northbound exist for the M1. The A42 does not terminate at M1 J23A. but at roundabout with A453. See SK471247. Thanks, Regan123 00:49, 8 December 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Corrections to roundabout at junction 23a

[edit]

I drive on this junction every day and have done for the past five years. It has FIVE roads coming off it. Working clockwise in order they are: a non-numbered slip road to Donington Park services, the A453 south to the airport, the A453 north to Junction 24 of the M1, an exit offering southbound access ONLY to the A42 and M1, and a no entry terminus coming from the A42 and M1 north. Junction 24 at the end of the A453 offers south and north access to the M1 and not just south as a previous edit of this article had indicated. Robdav69 July 30 2006.

The point of my mentioning the J24 southbound access to the M1 is that you cannot do this from 23a. I didn't feel it was particularly relevant to list the other routes from the A453/M1 J24 roundabout (M1 north, A50, A453 and A6) since they are neither part of, nor relevant to the A42. jimfbleak 15:03, 30 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]
